18 months ago he was handed a new contract though. So I don’t see it as saving money when they made that huge mistake.
I know the incomings aren’t fashionable but to me they seem like Conte type of personalities…he’s an elite manager for a reason and the new acquisitions seem to have good work ethics…the two mix well imo. Not sure what’s happening with Gil…another 6 months in a league he originally came from won’t his game much in the way we need…I mean all the years before we signed him haven’t helped ready him so I don’t see what another 6 months will do…more game time for the lad is the only positive in this for me. Hope Lo Celso and Ndombele impress on their loan stints so that we can recoup as much money as possible from them…not bothered about much else with regards the two tbh As for Dele…thanks for the memories…he did provide some great ones…thought the boy was gonna go right to the top but he got lost somewhere and I don’t think he will ever be found. Mid table standards now like the club he is joining.
What happened between him and Arteta? To have a bust up isn’t abnormal but then to let him go basically the next month is extreme.
There’s no official reports on what happened, but a lot of reliable journalists are saying Arteta became frustrated with Aubameyang’s lack of basic respect for the rules that everyone else had to follow. He was late regularly, wasn’t trying as much in training and wasn’t taking things seriously, as evidenced by his performances on the pitch. Ultimately, Arteta lost patience with him because he felt he was setting a bad example to the younger players, especially as he was appointed club captain. Aubameyang didn’t like being disciplined and felt Arteta was being too hard on him. So their relationship broke down. I understand why we’ve let him go, but to not bring in any sort of replacement is a dereliction of duty.
Yeah he gave some very good moments. Time to go for sure but he’s a big part of the recent history of Spurs.
Kinda get why Arteta turfed him out then. A manager can’t be seen to be weak if a player is disrespecting the club and rules. Am surprised they didn’t get in someone though. So Aubameyang is gone and Nketiah and Lacazette are out of contract in the summer yeah?
I don't understand where "broke" Barca are getting all this money from. Sure they aren't buying people as such but they are taking on hefty wages, and still have a high wage bill. It was only a few months ago where all the news was about them having to be very careful with finances.
I don’t fully understand it but they’re treading a fine line IIRC. They have to cut a lot of wage spend and they came to a deal with the authorities where they’re allowed spend either 50% or 25% of the money they save, something like that. So if they get rid of a player on 100k then they can add one on 50k.
Yep. Nketiah and Lacazette deals run out in 5 months. Aubameyang has gone to Barcelona. That's 3 strikers that need replacing in the Summer. Should be interesting...
This window feels a bit like what Poch said was needed , glad to see the back of GLC and Ndombele due to their poor attitude unsure about letting Gil go back to Spain but we shall see in the summer if it has done him any good but most of all sad to see Dele go , he was part of the team that made us believe in the team again I will remember him for his goals and ****house celebrations against the Chavs , the league cup goal V the Arse and the Palace goal His link up play with Eriksen and Kane was telepathic at times but all good things come to an end and it is all to easy to see that for the last 3 seasons he has not been at the races for us .
