Good move for him. Would have been nice to get him a loan in England but he’s going to a good club and game time at that level will be helpful.
Yeah I’m not sure him going to Valencia will do much for him tbh. Got a feeling if he does well there then he won’t be back. If the club can get decent money for him then it’s win win.
Yeah they're a great club at developing technical players so from that side they should polish his game nicely but a bit of toughening up in England would've been ideal. Kid's a ****ing massive talent though and I think the club know it. He'll be back in the summer and then we can reassess, loan to Prem or have him compete for a spot again.
There’s a reason he’s so highly regarded. And he pushed back on the rumours of him not settling in England too. My only worry with him is where he fits in under Conte if we play 3 in midfield. He was clearly bought for Nuno’s 433. With that said if we could turn a profit on him in the summer I’d be interested.
It's worth mentioning he only really shone in La Liga playing for Leganes and Eibar - both relegated the years he played for them. The step up from 8,000 seater Spanish tier 2 clubs to Spurs was always going to be a struggle and Valencia is a good first step to bridge that gap.
I don’t think there’s anything in it. Never quite been 100% on Dybala though. He’s got so much quality and is clearly technically a step above most players but he just doesn’t seem to impact games consistently. I worry we wouldn’t get bang for our buck. And we now have 5 players for the striker positions anyway.
I wouldn't wanna sell him, I think we'd regret it massively, he's not like Dele/ Ndombele/ Lo Celso who are washed here. Son will be 30 by the start of next season and Lucas will be 30 a week or two into it. 30 of course is nothing in today's game with these athletes but it is an age where you have to begin planning for a long term heir. Gil as Son's backup and then heir is very possible in my opinion, just as Kulusevski could be Lucas', albeit the Swede is more experienced and likely to feature in place of Lucas (and others) this season. Plus, without sounding too gloomy, Conte isn't a long term manager and I've said before that players like Gil, Sarr along with one or two academy lads will be looking to push into the XI at around the 23/24 season, where it's possible Conte may not be here by. So I wouldn't judge too many young players on where Conte may or may not utilise them.
Lo Celso gone. One player I’ve never liked or rated and to say I’m glad to see him gone is an understatement
