    From the Lewes website:

Lewes Football Club would like to confirm that whilst the club and a Premier League club agreed a deal in principle for the transfer of Ollie Tanner, Ollie and the Premier Club were not ultimately able to agree personal terms and he remains a Lewes FC player.
    ——————————

We were definitely the Premier League club, I wonder if maybe fan backlash had anything to do with it but the clubs are just saying that personal terms weren’t agreed?

    Ours, mate.

Spurs fans found tweets of him mocking Kane’s speech (plus anti-spurs ones), they’ve since been deleted I think. Doesn’t/ didn’t help he’s also a massive gooner, albeit that wouldn’t have been an initial problem.

I know we can all joke about Levy being tight but a non-league player failing to agree terms with a big six premier league club? Doesn’t make sense to me. I think the club may have pulled out of the deal. It’s only my opinion of course but a lot of Spurs fans were vocal on social media about how they didn’t want him.

And it was only yesterday he was liking tweets from people saying stuff like “from non league to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium” so I highly doubt he’d be making stupid demands and failing to agree terms with us. I really do think we pulled the plug.

The r/coys hivemind think it's the other way around, claiming Tanner pulled out due to Spurs fans jumping on him on Twitter for his tweets

    Either way works for me.

A slight part of me wants to feel sympathy for him as he is still a young lad but he only has himself to blame for this collapsing.

It’s quite ironic though that if true, he’s pulled out of a move to a club due abuse from the clubs’ fans, which stemmed from the fact he himself made abusive tweets.

    Exactly this.

This is why so many players will let contracts run down now.

The obvious issues with that are twofold
i.) If things don't work out, as Ramsey is a perfect example of, then they have the options of rotting on the training ground or having to accept one hell of a pay cut
ii.) If a lot of similar players are out of contract at the same time they may soon find themselves rather publicly shown to be fallback options in basically every single club's plans, for example I very much doubt anyone is seriously looking at Niklas Stark as the CB to solve everything due to the likes of Rudiger, Christiansen, Sule, Romagnoli, Ginter, Denayer, Luiz Felipe and Tarkowski also becoming free agents this summer - but he's going to wind up somewhere, no doubt looking delighted to be there as he poses with the shirt of whichever club signed him after missing out on the rest of that list

The attempted defence was "He was only a kid" as if he was six when he posted them and not sixteen - which not only means it was three years ago, but also means he posted them well above the age of criminal responsibility (aka the Jake Paul defence)

This does beg the question if he was asked to delete the tweets and/or post an apology during negotiations only to sit there, arms folded, saying he don't wanna

Ramsey is still earning huge money for doing very little though

Them being on a free still makes them more appealing to teams than if a transfer fee was involved though.

I say offensive **** all the time so I’m probably not the best type of person to condemn him…

Though I’m not in the public eye either, nor would I mock someone I could potentially work with one day <laugh>.

A football career is relatively short.
I get why a player on say £3,000 a week would want to be fully paid up gor their contract as they can not simply retire and keep the same standard of living.

But Ramsey was on around £80,000 per week with the goons (£4m per year) and received a massive signing on fee of millions when he left on a free in 2019.
For the past 2 and a half years he has been on at least £175,000 per week (the lowest I seen quoted). That's £9.1m a year.
That means he's earned £22m plus in Italy.

That means his career earnings are well over £35m and that being conservative.

Why would a pay cut bother him?
Seems insane to me...the bloke on has a few years left to play at the top level...why waste it?

Because they’re all greedy and think they need as much money as possible.

    There's the thing though.
I think some of the people I've worked with in the past are complete ****ers. I tell my mates this. But I'd never put it on social media ffs <laugh>
