I've never said he is a striker though. I go with the Klopp/Pep approach....sign the best players you can and then line them up the best way you can.
yeah but even when kanes been injured which there has been numerous times in the last few years, everyone has decided he isn't the guy to play striker. He's been useless the past few seasons so i'm suggesting if he's no good in midfield and people don't think he's any good up front, he more than likely isn't going to be better than vinicius who actually performed
The Pep approach also includes spending vast amounts of money and buying 52 fullbacks. Not sure we're in a position to do that.
you should do, you think players scoring goals don't help win matches, especially in narrow games that can still be decided.
That’s a relatively fair statement but by that logic and excluding positional attributes, the logical choice would still remain Vinicius as he’s been better than Dele for 2-3 seasons.
No I don't. I think that you can't tell what would have happened without Origi and Vinicius but my opinion is that a better player in their place who is not a striker would most likely have not made things worse.
I think they sign players who can play the roles they want, or try to. Klopp got Jota, who is versatile and can emulate Firminho as a false 9. Pep tried to get a striker last summer and felt he has (had? Now Torres has left) players who could be coached into a false 9 system to play without someone up top. We rely on playing around a striker who can bring others into play but also act as a 9, and Kane is pretty much alone in that. Conte thinks Bergwijn can do it to an extent, and Sonny can play as a more direct striker who runs the channels, but Vinicius was more of a Kane-type.
Do you think it was possible that spurs, who had come back from 3-0 down in the semi final to go through could not possibly come back against Liverpoool with 10 minutes to go? Do you not think Origi who got a goal that 9 other outfield liverpool players didn't get, contributed to the win and make the game "safe"? You're right another striker could have bagged a hat trick but the likes of salah, mane, kane, son and some of the best players in the world couldn't score another one until origi came on to seal it.
In transfer news. Vlahovic to Juve is now apparently 100% done, so hopefully we can now put some pressure on them regarding one or two of their players we may be interested in. Bruno from OL is represented by Kia Joorabchian, and after he messed us around with other Brazilian clients of his (Willian notably) we can probably nix the speculation around jumping in on that deal. Might still be a welcome outlet for Lo Celso though.
Marca linking us with Alvaro Morata ...okay, I thought my brain was fried today after having to do a bunch of obnoxiously overcomplicated paperwork
