In your dreams I'm afraid. The reality of Spurs is exactly what we have, on the fringe of top 4 and trying to jump the gap with signings. The fact that we have signed Conte is a coup and the club will know they have to back him. If you look at the investment in the club it would be crazy indeed not to back the managers but in order to do that you have to deal with the real world and getting over the line past top 4 is the hardest line of all. The fact that we are knocking on the door shows the progress that has been made in the last 20 years.

Very similar and look how much better we are doing. Villa and Everton and Spurs are the clubs we sit with and we are doing far better than both of them.

I’m afraid you’re the one that still seems to be dreaming by thinking we’re such paupers that can’t seal a deal for a player at Wolves with three weeks to work with.

The reality of Spurs is we’re the sixth biggest club in England, one of the biggest in Europe, we have the best stadium in Europe, some of the best facilities in Europe and one of the best managers to go with it. But when it comes to transfers, we act like we’re Norwich City after a bad night at the casino.

but for me the point is

these ‘smaller’ clubs get what they need and don’t mess around like a typical Levy window.

I don’t think snatching Digne from Everton was an easy task…he’s a top player…they wanted him and they got him…yes him wanting to leave makes it easier but all our targets are up for leaving too.

So Barcelona are using the money we paid for one of their players, to buy a player we want, because we have doubts about the player we’ve just bought from them.

    Tottenham Hotspur.

Nice touch that. Powell's loved at Charlton, so you’d like to think he’d been consulted about players who could make an impact there.

This is Tottenham in a nutshell, if we really wanted Traore why wasn't a deal agreed early on before Barca became interested. This may have prompted Barca to make a move, but we would have much more time to secure another target. The problem now with a few days remaining its almost impossible for us to bring someone.

If we signed Lamptey im sure Brighton would demand a higher fee because it gives them almost no time to find a replacement.

With Traore, it sounds like Paratici was dead keen but had other options and Conte was open to the player joining, but less dead set on him. I’m really not too bothered about him as a player, and if the powers that be at the club have other options then so be it if he doesn’t come.

Considering the bid we’ve put in for Diaz, the money is there to have secured Traore weeks ago if we wanted. Therefore I can assume we didn’t want him that much.

Lamptey will cost £40m-£50m anyway so we all know what happens there. Just wishful thinking on my part on that one.

With Traore now seemingly off the table, I wonder if this move for Cambiaso starts getting more traction.

Longari’s been a relatively decent journo since the start of last summer where he was one of the first to call Romero.

I’m not gutted about missing out on Adama Traore but am worried that the window is nearly closed and Spurs haven’t sold or bought a single player yet.

Conte clearly came out and said he wanted players in January so let’s not pretend otherwise.

Yes deals are hard to get done in January but not impossible, so why haven’t 1-2 been bought in at least? Especially considering the standard of names linked haven’t been the best either.

Deep down, we all know why.

We've even just seen why in fact. Piss about for too long and then get pushed aside by someone more serious.

Done the standard YouTube scouting analysis. Transfermarkt has him down as an attacking midfielder but his YouTube clips generally show him cutting in from the right a lot, so perhaps he’s a bit versatile in the supporting trio positions.

Reminds me a little of a Kranjcar/ Chadli type. Tall player with silky skills and great technique (left footed so that’s a given!) but not blessed with blistering speed. I really liked both Kranjcar and Chadli though and if he is indeed in that mould then I could get behind this one assuming there’s any truth in it.

You could always count on Krancjar to get a few goals and he really came into his own when Modric was out with a lengthy injury
