Some of the Milan blogs are suggesting they'd prefer to cash in when the have the chance - although the obvious sticking point is he'll be at the ACoN on January-February, especially if Ivory Coast make it to the latter stages, which may well hand us an advantage in negotiations Is it too much to ask that we try a twofer and get Romagnoli in January too?
Work boredom is setting in and I’m excited about Conte. So I wonder who his first choice XI will be. Let’s assume 3atb (probably a safe assumption). Will it be a 343 or a 352? Lloris Tanganga Romero Dier Royal Skipp Hojbjerg Regulion Lucas Kane Son or Lloris Tanganga Romero Dier Royal Skipp Højbjerg Regulion Tanguy Son Kane I’m assuming he’ll like Tanganga for his athleticism, Romero because he’s probably our best CB and played in the middle of a 3 at Atalanta IIRC. The left CB is difficult. I’ve gone for Dier as managers just seem to like him, but I wouldn’t be against seeing Rodon (though that makes for a very young back line without a lot of PL experience) or even Davies in a pinch. I think those 3 are likely though with Sanchez/Rodon/Davies as the backups initially. The midfield pivot picks itself. We have no other options there and the Kessie rumours may already indicate that we’re looking to reinforce there sooner rather than later. The forwards/AM is a tricky one. Kane and Son are surely nailed on whatever we do. In the 343 I see Conte liking Moura’s commitment and work rate, he’s frustrating as his end product is inconsistent (to be kind) but I think he’s the most likely. I suppose it depends what others show in training. Moura also brings the flexibility of picking up the ball as a 10 and driving at the opposition, or running into space if Kane drops. I picked Tanguy as the AM in 352 because Conte reportedly likes him but I suppose it all depends if he is suitably motivated. I think/hope the main areas of investment will be at least one CB, a CM for the pivot, a backup striker (or someone to pair, potentially) and maybe an AM if Conte looks at the 3 options there and thinks no thanks. Which is entirely possible.
I think it's likely to be a 352/ 3412 with a central creative outlet to join the two wingbacks in creating chances, in a 343 and assuming the two CMs are Skipp and Hojbjerg it's hard to see how we'd get the ball to the front three efficiently enough, even if Reguilon and Emerson did have more attacking licence. It's also why I've said on the Conte thread that I'd be worried if I were a winger/ wing forward. I think for right now, Conte will go with something like: Lloris Sanchez, Romero, Dier Emerson, Hojbjerg, Ndombele, Skipp, Reguilon Son, Kane With Ndombele more or less playing as a CAM than a CM, closer to Son and Kane than he would be to the defence. I'd personally like to see Tanganga and/ or Rodon get in but I reckon the more senior trio will start off there. But come January, I'd like to see additions and changes at CB and CM/ CAM as well as a striker to compete with Son and Kane. I'd imagine he'll want at least one more top CB to join Romero in that back three, possibly a leader, whilst unless he works a miracle on Ndombele or any of the other attacking mids, it's almost a certainty he'd need a proper creative outlet who can get that ball to Son and Kane.
Yeah I think 352 is more likely than 343 with this squad. It’s just nice to be excited about Spurs again
Sport (the Spanish one, not the "London bus on the moon" one) claim that Barca are going to make a loan offer for Ndombele in January Meanwhile... Kessie Watch ...Sport also report that we're in negotiations with Milan to sign Kessie in January
CB, CM and ST all needed in January and hopefully will see some of the dross sold then too (Newcastle will be desperate for anyone)
Vlahovic Watch Rough translation, Fiorentina are hoping for a transfer auction and have set the price at €80m I'll repeat what I said a while back when it first emerged that Vlahovic was letting his contract tick down, and we should consider a buy-and-loan-back if that gets the price down to closer to €70m (aka £60m) so he continues to develop at Fiorentina for the season while also meaning that, when he and Sarr show up next July, we've got two major parts of our summer business sorted
Apparently a few Championship clubs want Clarke. Not sure if loan or permanent. Also, Jose supposedly wants Winks at Roma… bit weird considering he didn’t play him much when here but show us the moneeeeey.
i read this: Officials from Arsenal and Fiorentina met in London this week to discuss a deal that would see 21-year-old Serbia striker Dusan Vlahovic join the Gunners. (Express) a straight up lie or they did?
The rumour is that he's looking to move to the Premier League and won't sign a new contract. As he's only got 18 months-ish left on his current deal, Fiorentina are willing to let him leave. They want €80m or so in January, so his people will probably talk to anyone that'll pay that.
