There is very few players in the world these days I’d swap (sell) Kane for Haaland is one of them because of his potential and age.
The thing with Haaland people miss is that he doesn't play through the middle, Reus usually does with Haaland coming off the wing in much the way Son or Salah do On the other hand, our system is based on wide players breaking into the area, so there is a place for Haaland - but we'd need a central figure for them to play off, so we'd have to sign someone like Wout Weghorst to be a menace through the centre
Would keep kane cos (for purely sentimental reasons) I would love to see him win trophies with us and break all our goal scoring records.
I do find it weird that Spurs fans are more obsessed with us selling harry Kane than Skyte Sports are And the thing is, they fall into three distinct categories * The "If we don't win trophies he'll be off" crowd, who have been going strong since 2017 * The "Look what Saltypool did with the Coutinho money" crowd, who fail to realise Coutinho wasn't their main goalscorer * The "ENIC are strip-mining the club" crowd, who have yet to provide an example of us frivolously selling players in twenty years I'll always remember one I finally had enough of on Twitter who responded to us selling Anton Walkes by saying he was the first of many that summer, as Kane and Son would soon follow. You know, Anton Walkes? Our fourth-choice RB at the time? Who plays in MLS? ****ing hell our Twitter crowd are a tiresome lot
****ing tough question lol. I’d probably say no though to be honest. Kane is more than just a top player at Spurs, he’s synonymous with the club as he’s the poster/ golden boy and the fact he came from the academy always adds that extra edge that players brought in could never replicate. Chances are we won’t produce another player with the calibre of Kane for a good 20-30 years, possibly more. Haaland has the potential to go all the way but there is one huge factor that Kane has over Haaland right now and that’s the certainty of being an elite performer in the Premier League. For what it’s worth I think Haaland would smash it over here too but there’s just no guarantee at the moment. To replace Kane there’d have to be a guarantee they’d immediately be as good or better and for me there’s very few players on the planet who could offer that right now.
There's also the other thing to consider: would they fit into our team? For example, Mbappe is another of the best strikers out there, but honestly I cannot see him working in our system as it requires a CF to hold up the ball and also drop back so the wide players can break forward, and I honestly don't think that Mbappe could perform in that role at all You could certainly parachute Lewandowski or Benzema into our team and they'd perform right away, but there's so many players who could have been great in systems used by other managers who would likely be spoken about in the same tones as Rebrov or Soldado if we signed them
I could see Kane putting in a serious shift to better the remaining goalscoring records that Greavsie holds at Spurs, and the moment that time arrives + he has no serious winners medals, transfer request incoming.
Maybe no one can offer that quite now...however I reckon 3 more years of Kane then it’s gonna be that time and I don’t see anyone but Haaland who comes remotely close. Troy Parrot won’t be that man
I think Kane has a lot more in him than 3 years to be honest. So long as injuries don’t wreck him, he’s got all the attributes to be like another Zlatan I think. Not necessarily saying still quality at 39 but I don’t think Kane would drop too much from now until say 33-34ish. Though the problem for us would be for how much longer can we actually keep him for? Way too early to write off Parrott, too lol.
Positive about Kane is he doesn’t have pace to lose as he gets older and them kinda players can play longer I suppose. I just know we gonna feel the hit so much when Son and Kane start going downhill anyways Both to get a brace today
Kane's got a couple of years yet at the club still. He is an idol to tottenham fans and he is going to be go down in the spurs hall of fame regardless of if he wins any trophies or not. In the fairytale world he will retire a spud but for the clubs future and growth, theres a decision to be made to keep him as an icon or sell him whilst he still has resale value because the club would most probably better off selling him for the 100m to rebuild
Personally I lack the faith in the club to utilise the funds to reinvest from a Kane sale. We've done terrible at replacing key players. Berbatov, Modric, Bale and Eriksen have all left and we haven't/ couldn't find anyone to do what they could in their positions, nor even close - we've ended up bringing Bale back and even he hasn't replaced Bale . Dembele came good after a while from replacing Modric and then he himself is someone we've failed to ever properly replace but I'd much rather keep Kane for say 5+ years than sell him in a year or two for big dough only to then see it spunked on ****. Obviously the problem though is that I do fear we'll lose Kane in the near future if we don't win anything. As much as he loves Spurs, he can't finish his career with a CV that doesn't have a trophy, it'd be a travesty to be honest.
yeah, it would be a shame for him if he doesn't win anything at all. He's really come on from where he has first begun and it's been quite refreshing to see him become a far better player than just the pure goalscorer he was before. He seems like a really nice chap as well and it's quite refreshing that he is a model professional. Still dives around a bit but all players do.
If that happens, which PL clubs other than Spurs do you want to feature in the list of "the trail of the dead" ?? Citeh managed by Pep, surely.
Everton rumoured to be trying to sign Khedira but that we’re possibly looking to hijack it. Khedira was quoted not so long ago saying he’d happily play for Jose again. Calibre and experience wise he’d be perfect to compete or even play alongside Hojbjerg and at his age he won’t stand in the way of Skipp’s progress either. Downside though is that he hasn’t played for Juve this season (I think) and is a player who’s had their injury problems so the last thing we’d need is another injury prone player to join the likes of Lamela and Lo Celso or someone like Bale who needs getting up to speed.
Out of all these old dogs being touted I’d really just want Ramos He’d help us win the league...the others I’m not sure what they bring
