Apparently after we (hopefully) tie Sonny to a new deal, Hugo will be next in line. Based on his form in 2020 I’d say he’s warranted that. He had a dreadful couple of years where he was making far too many mistakes but ever since he injured his elbow and had that fairly long lay off, he’s come back looking a lot, lot better. I won’t say like the Hugo of old because back then I truly believed he was one of the top 3 keepers in world football but I’d say he’s back at a level where we don’t have to be concerned and where realistically it’d be hard to better him without spending upwards of £50m.

We needed to expand the squad a bit, but it's now a little too large and it needs some trimming.
    The balance isn't there.

Some sort of alternative/competition for Hojbjerg would be good, too.

Could do a loan or an older, experienced player to tide him over.
A Premier League loan might be the order for Skipp, depending on how things go.

yeah he's cut out a lot of clangers that he was coming up with (not sure whether the drink driving thing affected him).

He was unbelievable a few years ago but i think thats because he was the first sweeper keeper to come into the premier league. Nowadays, he's still doing it but not as well as some of the others. Not just that, his ball playing has always been suspect and nowadays the modern sweeper keepers and shot stoppers can also play with the ball too.

His distribution has consistently been shocking over the years, though I think it’s marginally improved since his overall comeback since injury.

He’s up there now once again I think as one of the best keepers in the league and I think he’s becoming more vocal as a leader now as well (or maybe we’re just seeing and hearing it more with no crowd noise). I don’t think he’s a top 5 in the world keeper like he arguably was a few years back but he’s definitely a player I don’t think we could improve on without spending £50m or so.

He was committing them before the drink driving incident to be fair but that may have ****ed his confidence further.

Our system isn't heavily reliant on a ball playing keeper any more so it's taken a lot of pressure on him on that aspect. Poch loved a lot of playing it out from the back, Jose's a bit more direct and less possession-focused so it works well for Lloris.

Shot stopping-wise I think he's still one of the best in the world and so cutting out those stupid mistakes he was committing for a couple years now means he's no longer undoing all the worldy's he'd pull off and so providing he keeps it up, he's still easily got a few more years in him.

Can the loan be cut short and Spurs get him back in January?

Foyth's on loan at Villarreal. I doubt they'll make it permanent until the end of the season.

One thing that has to be said, Covid has ruined Gedson's chances of getting any game time

When we loaned him in there was the chance he'd get some games, what with Sissoko being ruled out with a knee injury until at least March, and that was shown by him getting some cameos in the league and some starts in the FA Cup - but then the league went on hiatus and, by the time it returned, Sissoko was match fit and Gedson was stuck on the bench, and this season he's become a cup player who has made the bench just once this season for the Newcastle game

I'm thinking that current Los Ladrones manager Zinedine Zidane had a lot to do with it too...

Former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino and current Real Madridreserve team boss Raul are contenders to take over at the Spanish giants if they decide to sack Zinedine Zidane. (AS)

Would be amazed if Zidane is still their manager by xmas.
Am surprised Pochettino hasn't been installed tbh.
