well... its his life so irrespective of where or how much we'd like he's every right to say no. It could be family, or career or whatever reason. IMO he tried his best and we can only say ok as fans. He's not slagged us off, he's not stopped trying his best and he snet a nice goodbye letter too..

As an LFC fan i would have been delighted to see him go foreign as i think he'll rip us a new one when he plays against us same as carroll did. Both me are precisely what we are weak against.

I heard about Benteke turning down a move to China. Good for him to stay and fight for his place. He's not the first and won't be the last who it didn't work out for with us. A move to China is surely for the [well] over 30's.

The market this summer was ridiculous, and everyone 'overpaid' compared to what the same players would have gone for only 12 months ago.

It's not a disaster as long as most of the cash recirculates within our own domestic football pyramid.

Only time I'd be concerned about costs is if we spent X amount on a player and it stopped us investing in other areas which need it (or we went batshit crazy and did a Leeds)

In reality all we can do is trust that those responsible for negotiating do it well and get value for money. It's the 'value for money' part that makes for interesting debate on here.

Serious question for you here tobes, were you disappointed with the players you brought in after all the hype around how much was available for you to spend [for the first time in a long time] and the level of player that would get you?

I was fine with the players we brought in. Williams is the solid CB we've been crying out for. Gueye on his first few games, looks a cracking little player and is covering the back line very well. Stekelenburg has started well and is an uprgrade on Robles and Bolasie is a game changer.

What I wasn't happy with was the fact that we patently did fail to nail the higher profile targets we were aiming for (albeit I was delighted Sissoko joined Spurs, as he's bloody awful imo)

We were trying lure CL level players, off the back of finishing 11th 2 years running. It was an ambitious plan and it failed. What was galling was that we didn't move on quick enough when these players stalled on their decisions, waiting for something better to arrive. Witsel dicked us about for 2 months I'm told.

Lessons will have been learned I'm sure and come the next window Walsh will have had a few months to get his ducks in a row.

Quite shocked you've not gone for another top quality first team striker. If lukaku gets injured for any prior of time, Valencia (albeit good to step in as cover for a few games) isn't going to be a constant goal threat and I don't see goals coming from anywhere else in your team. Barkley can chip in with 5 bolasoe doesn't have great record eother

I know I'm late to the discussion because of not being on here for a while but I was surprised that the club went for the quick fix rather than looking to build for the future: a journeyman manager who will look to be off in say 3 years [?], old[ish] players, your example Williams being a case in point. I'm guessing Koeman wanted a DoF hence signing Walsh who unearthed Vardy and Mahrez and very few others.

I'm not wumming here. I have blues in the family some of whom are perplexed, others seeing it as a quick fix but happy as long as it provides a decent base to build on.
 
I dunno but what really matters is keeping players fit first and the performances.

Everton have very good fill back that are not fit a lot of the time. Lucky if bothered, barkley and a few others already so adding a good cb and cm and a keeper will aid them.

Liverpool got the gk and cb and rw. Its how it all combines thats important.
