I feel some sympathy for him because I think none of this has been his fault. He was the top dog at Villa and he did save their skin by his goals. All their game was centred around feeding him the ball.

Rodgers came along and paid £32.5m for him even though even for his style Benteke didn't actually seem to fit. Now with Klopp, he fits even less. And Rodgers overpaid him too. All our squad players are on massive top wages even though they are fairly average.

The best solution would be to get him to another club even on loan and to subsidise his wages. None of the clubs who may be interested in him - Stoke, WBA, Palace, Norwich etc) can afford his wages. As to his transfer fee, we'll be lucky to get £15m.

As for his replacement, what about promoting one of the academy or under 21 players? Surely we could do the same as the Mancs who promoted Rashford?
 
To be honest there is only one striker on our books I'd be sad to see leave this summer and that's Ings.

Benteke is meh (for us). Balotelli is sub-meh. Sturridge is too weak. Origi has improved but doesn't look like he'll ever be top 4 quality. Firm is too inconsistent.




Btw I see Sterling is injured and might be out rest of the season.

Matip second only to Boateng in the Bundesliga
The rise of Jerome Boateng from Manchester City misfit to premier central defender has been a rather mysterious one.

The Bayern man is now considered the best centre back in the Bundesliga.

But Schalke goalkeeper Ralf Fahrmann reckons Joel Matip, bound for Liverpool this summer, is second to him.

“He’s our best player and one of the best centre backs in Germany,” Fährmann told The Set Pieces.

“I think Jerome Boateng is the best [centre back] in the league but I think he (Matip) comes straight after or even level with him.”

“He’s one of the kindest people I’ve ever met in football. He’s always there for you, always willing to lend an ear,” said Fährmann.

“Even if I make a mistake, he’s willing to take the blame to support me. England can be very happy to have him in the Premier League.”



Schalke sporting director Horst Heldt, meanwhile, had this to say:

“It’s always annoying when a player with quality leaves us. We tried for a long time to stop him leaving us but in the end, Joel Matip decided he wants to do something else and to go in a different direction. In this case, money didn’t play a role and we just have to accept it.

“If Schalke played in the Premeir League, he would have stayed. That’s unfortunately not an option for Schalke,”
 
Benteke also admits he regrets joining Liverpool. "I would have never signed for Liverpool if I wasn't the manager's first choice."
 
Sounds like he thinks you have really ****ed him up, he cant believe you would buy him and have no idea how to use him.
 
Yeah we told the cock to miss the target on purpose just for the crack.

He was brought by a previous manager. Not klopps fault Brendan wasted **** loads of money on him.

Hopefully pardew will buy him and they can have a breakdown together lol
