those advocating his talents are entitled to their opinions but he didn't show that much on the rare occasions he was placed in proper slot and while initially gave a show of fight in his wing back role rodgers stuck him in he ran out of dodge and that for me is a big black mark.

A lot of what you say is correct, however we are shopping in the upper middle to middle tier of players. We don't have the structure to get the players to turn us into a top tier attraction.
I'm usually really positive but at the moment we are mainly filled with mediocre players and are struggling to attract top talent.
that is true. the only hope we have is klopp has 5 or 6 guys picked out and an eye for a player that will cut the bull out.
The thing is we must start somewhere.
the souness era.. stated with handed ****e from KK, carter and speedie FFS. that ended badly but youth came through. won FA cup but he bought dross like kozma, stewart, dicks.
The evans era. too many average players bought, his best players were there when he started. he bought ruddock FFS.
the houllier era... started where... mediocrity... atrocious squad (only in places) then he bought the likes of hamman and hyppia and promoted youth. many trophies. He bought badly chasing success too quick. this 3 disasters in cheyrou, diouf and diao did for him but in 4th and with 4 trophies.
the rafa era. he bought a lot but some real quality. two big trophies. alonso, masch, torres, arbeloa, etc etc but he fell apart penny pinching and taking risks.
then the non existant hodgson era.. how anoyone thought poulson was an idea.
Then comolli and dalglish bought suarez... among some dirt
then rodgers was woeful
Everyone had a bad place to start... but along the way they all did something right. the shame is since this committee was created and since G&H started the penny pinching leading to voronins and krygiakos type players we've very very rarely bought well.
The best hope we have is jurgen klopp has an eye for a player and can look at whats scouted and say who's right. this committee stuff needs to go and it needs to be a proper set up.
If he can start with 3 genuine good players who can lead the club forward I'll be happy enough. I want to see 3 things
1. never buy an injured player cos they are a "bargain"
2. never buy a trouble maker
3. if the strategy is 24 but good.. stick to it but bloody well buy good. don't waste cash.
LFC have players who are medicore right across the pitch. there is nobody i would buy as a top 4 outfit from us, not even coutinho.
He actually did play wel in his correct position and scored a couple of goals.
He even enjoyed a decent period at right wing back.
The lad was 20 when he joined, new country, language etc etc.
Most of us want sign exciting talents but are quick to get rid when they don't start banging them in straight away. The guy is clearly talented and he's ours.

I'd give him a bit of slack for the reasons you quote however he's also got to say he. i'm going to fight here...
Bournemouth in league cup.. that was from right position. and sunderland... just a couple of goals.. he won the game for us v sunderland sure but hey... not a big swing. he did score against tottenham so that was an opening goal in a 3-2 win.
If someone offers a profit o nthe guy i'd take it cos he's mouthed enough to show ZERO desire to get back here and see what klopp will do for him.
He knows full well the rules mean at anfield in europe he's in trouble and elsewhere he is not for his slot.
Its that lac of fight that i question. he should have been here fighting not off to turkey with a scowl on his face.
