Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Galatasaray winger Kevin Grosskreutz, according to reports in Turkey.

He's essentially a utility, squad, sub option - another Milner but cheaper. Squad is quite thin at the moment so I'm guessing Klopp may want a player to cover multiple positions in the short run.

Wouldn't have been top of my list but Klopp obviously knows him well enough. We'll have a busy few months in terms of games so useful to add to the squad I guess <ok>

we will see.

I'm not pushed either way as honestly three things occur to me

1. we've too many no 10's and not enough wingers as ibe proves. this is accepted generally.

2. I think there is a good chance this is agent trying to drum up a deal for his client elsewhere and lfc are being used

3. if klopp wants him he wants him. so there you go. he should know by now what level of energy and physicality is required for this league

so..... i'm not going to worry until i see him in a red shirt.

i think he should be at some level. I am waiting to see what lvel. I think he'll attract from round europe but would he draw a top top player? who knows. he's done a lot but we will see. i'm not sure he is a guy wanting to draw from the top level anyway. I think rather than buying lewandowski he wants the next lewandowski no matter that the press might link

the other question is are the mythical committee now working to his tune or continuing along their own path and targets

Committee signings seem to he doing a lot better these days under Klopp.

Maybe they can continue working as they have done but with a manager who won't interfere as much or play political games as Rodgers.

or even better the manager actually says yes scout him cos i know about him and then ok the actual signing and is never given a choice like e'tto or balotelli..... maybe cos the real targets are not saying not brendan who? **** that.

the two things lfc need to do are:

1. improve radically the medical assessment of players and never ever sign a dodgy player again

2. improve our assessment of player attitudes and professionalism.

Lol definitely agree with number 1!

I know the NFL are very extensive in their recruitment and assessment, and attitudes/intelligence etc are closely examined.

And no - I wouldn't want Klopp to pick his own targets. He's not a scout - the scouts will find players and Klopp will determine if he can work with them or not. That's the way he did it at Dortmund and brought him success.

If the team continue their progress, this surely puts to bed the argument/debate about our structure and recruitment policy, as Klopp seems to be getting more out of the players that so many had written off.

The problem was and always will be Rodgers.

So are the ones you claim to be Brod signings too

Are they?

Benteke is sh*t, Lovren is still muck and Lallana works hard. Clyne is excellent tbf. Milner proved himself to be nothing more than a yard dog.

In all honesty, they have improved.

The committee signings are all crucial to the team. The three above are expendable.

But the underlying point is how a lot of so called journalists and pundits were banging on about how Rodgers couldn't do his job properly because of the structure in place.

It was a load of bollocks.

So you're saying there as been no improvement with Lovren, Lallana, Benteke or Allen since Klopp arrived? There is no argument with the former two FFS, they have both been much better, especially Lallana which you admitted yourself not too long ago!

just in case you forgot what you just said..."Committee signings seem to he doing a lot better these days under Klopp."

That's true, I misread what you wrote, my apologies.

As I said immediately after, it's not about committee vs Rodgers signings. It was more a dig at journos and pundits who kept saying the committee were useless and their signings were terrible.

well.... our record would suggest we have failed to get a player like either suarez (will move to suit himself but is a total pro and gives all) or a kuyt (****e touch but a total worker and effective too)

We've a fair few guys i'd have to wonder if they really suit klopp long term in our committee's history.

in any event..... I for one cannot tell if we ended up with "the last choice" or the first choice but all the tall tales of gerrard texting superstars begging them to come would suggest rodgers put off a lot of guys.

We will see in the next two windows who the club can attract and if they look made for klopps style or a compromise of who we can actually get.

this is also true though in some cases I have to say improvement would translate into working better i nthe system and being effective rather than being better individuals.

God loves a trier but joe allen is still bang average.

Lovern is a decent player, not top 4 but a decent player.

lallana is still lallana, he's trying to run in behind but he is not that effective and even if klopp gets 30% more out of him he is still dependant on teams giving him space

Benteke is a very good player and will improve under klopp i think as he'll have to or not play. Klopp will want a certain thing to be effective for the team and benteke will have to do this. MY klopp explained this with comments as to dortmunds current worldie taking 3 years to develop to where he is Aubameyang is desired by all but klopp says he took time to get him where he wanted. We will have to wait and see if benteke has it in him but one thing is for SURE.. he's not ****e.

Milner for me is not really working out. I'm not sure where klopp wants him to be frank but he is just not there. I'd say he is going to have to find a way of playing under klopp that delivers a lot more than he is delivering now. he looks flat to me.

He has had to do the work for Can so far, once Henderson gets fully back he will be fine.

by the look of the first 1/2 hour of henderson being back he will need someone to run for him for a few games.

I don't think milner is being too affected by Can to be fair. they've not played together.... and from newkie game can was not there and milner was tosh.
