benteke

pros: unplayable at time, genuine goalgetter, good shot, heading etc

cons: lazyish. injuries, cost, style just doesn't make sense!

For me at this point the cons outweigh the pros. He is a player who's not delivered a full year and will cost a fortune.

the other question:

walcott and gibbs or 50mil.

with our record... I'd take wlacott but never gibbs, don't even rate him. average at best IMO. we have flanagan after all who might play.

So all in all.. i'd take the 50mil...

just get pedro if he is really available and throw the fee at him in wages. 7mil plus 200k per week.

Agreed a new deal with Barca <ok>

Quite concerning that a few players are quite vocal about their contracts now. Shows that the club has lot control somewhat.

Has anything similar happened under Rafa or Kenny?

Pedro is quality. Was a key player under Pep, which was one of the best club sides ever.

Was inevitably going to be shunned for Neymar and Suarez.

Hope he does move because players like him should be playing more often.

James Milner Set to Wear Number 7 Shirt Next Season

James Milner's impending free transfer from Manchester City to Liverpool has only been publicly confirmed for a matter of hours, but there are already reports that the England international will wear his new club's iconic number 7 shirt next season.

According to a claim by the Daily Star, Milner will take the famous shirt when he formally arrives in July. The midfielder wore it at City, but Liverpool's hasn't been occupied since Luis Suarez left for Barcelona 12 months ago.

The number 7 has a long and illustrious history and has been worn by many Anfield legends. In the 1960s it was regularly worn by Ian Callaghan, whose 857 appearances is a club record that will probably never be broken.

Kevin Keegan was Liverpool's number 7 in the mid 1970s and when Kenny Dalglish arrived from Celtic in 1977 it was he who took it to a new level of legendary status. The Scottish goal machine had number 7 on his back in four European Cup finals between 1978 and 1985, as well as four League Cup finals and an FA Cup final.

In arguably the last great Liverpool side, Peter Beardsley turned out wearing number 7, with Suarez obviously picking up the mantra in spectacular style during his three-and-half years at the club from 2011.

Throughout the 90s and 00s there were many forgettable incarnations of Liverpool number 7s though. Nigel Clough and Vladimir Smicer disappointingly wore it either side of local hero Steve McManaman.

After that it was occupied by Harry Kewell, who seemed to spend more time in the treatment room than on the pitch, while Robbie Keane was a £20m flop that was gone after six months.

Milner is said to have turned down a bumper £165,000-per-week deal from Manchester City in order to get more regular playing time at this stage of his career. Liverpool fans will just be praying he's more 'Suarez' than 'Keane'.

He'll give his all and let's hope the pressure of living up to wearing the number 7 doesn't overburden him.

Dybala off to Juve, £23m

Tevez might be going cheap, could be a decent stop gap until we find someone better (and cheaper) than Benteke.

No chance if Psg are interested and want to offer silly money.

Also atletico are apparently interested and simeone might have upper hand with argentine connection

Probably :(

Just thought I should put a LFC link into the Dybala story.

And to say I don't think we should be looking at Benteke, especially if it were to cost anymore than £20m

Lets be honest, they are in a different league to us. If they want the same players as us, we stand no chance.
