Liverpool are set for a squad overhaul in the summer transfer window, with Brendan Rodgers undoubtedly setting about identifying which players can help his side return to the Champions League.
A number of big names have been linked to the Reds, with the months of July and August potentially set to be filled with excitement for those on Merseyside.
But Liverpool fans have been here before, haven’t they…
In a dream scenario, Liverpool would sort out
Raheem Sterling‘s contract and tie him down to a long deal that would see him help lead Liverpool’s attack for years to come.

Then they’d build a strikeforce that would let fans finally forget about Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge’s injury woes by adding Lyon hitman
Alexandre Lacazette and PSV’s
Memphis Depay, who is already rumoured to have held talks with Anfield officials.
Dropping back into midfield, Philippe Coutinho would remain as the chief string puller, while the Reds could replace the bite and creativity of a young Steven Gerrard by launching a double raid on Roma for
Miralem Pjanic and the £29million-rated
Radja Nainggolan.
With Martin Skrtel potentially set to depart Anfield, Liverpool could for move for Schalke’s
Kygriakos Papadopoulos, while bringing in a high-calibre replacement for Glen Johnson in the form of Barcelona’s
Martin Montoya.
Add
Petr Cech in for Simon Mignolet and you’ve got a serious team on your hands.
But, really, we all know this isn’t going to happen…

If Sterling does and Sturridge continues to struggle with injury, Liverpool’s ‘marquee signing’ upfront is far more likely to be Burnley’s
Danny Ings, with Lazar Markovic and potential new arrival
James Milner forced to take up the wide attacking roles.
For Nainggolan, read Aston Villa’s
Fabian Delph, who could form a ‘fearsome’ midfield partnership with
Jordan Henderson.
If Skrtel does leave, Rodgers is surely more likely to raid his former club Swansea for
Ashley Williams, while Johnson’s going to be replaced with the 33-year-old Marseille defender
Rod Fanni, isn’t he?
And, of course, it’ll still be Mignolet in nets.
But don’t worry, Liverpool fans – there’s always January…
