Players who could sign pre contacts in January for free moves in the summer.

Sami Khedira (Real Madrid)
Fabian Schar (Basel)
Giorgio Chiellini (Juventus)
Dani Alves (Barcelona)
Fabian Delph and Ron Vlaar (Aston Villa)
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (Schalke)

Other players that could sign an agreement in January are Nigel de Jong, Yehven Konoplyanka, Andre-Pierre Gignac, Michael Carrick, Glen Johnson, Emmanuel Adebayor, Mikel Arteta, Winston Reid, Andre Ayew, Ignazio Abate, Sergio Romero, Yoann Gourcuff, Eduardo Vargas, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Maxi Pereira.

Some interesting names in there. Khedira is the obvious one, Chiellini now that is an interesting one. At 30 you'd only get 3 maybe 4 years out of him but a club like ourselves or even Man U could really do with someone like him to marshal the defence.

I see all the Ukraine based players wanting out if they can. Terry and Gerrard will probably get 1year extensions to their contracts.

Sterling and Markovic are better on the left, as is Lallana. I think our right forward side is weaker, much weaker.

Saying that, I think I'd rather sign a top middle man and more Sturridge to the right than sign Shurrle.

Sterlings not played in left for us hardly ever though.... Coutinho has when it's 433

Lfc ain't getting khederia.... This is like reus and all those other names. It ain't happening when there's 5 million or so per year extra elsewhere!

Arsenal will sign Khedira. He's said he wants to move to England, he suits Wenger's style and Arsenal have a few Germany players already. He'll fit right in.

-------------

There are more rumours of Gerrard to Italy in January today.

If this was to happen he could be bloody expensive to replace and it could cause huge problems in January.

If he goes it will be for free. e'll need replacing with a top young DM which could cost up to £35m. This could eat a huge chunk out of the Suarez fee.

I do think spending big on a top DM will be worth it though. Even if we have to cut back on what we can pay for a striker.

This DM could be hard to get in January.

khederia said h wanted to stay in madrid too... sooooo.... If he wants football he will move. Its all about cash anyway. the biggest offer will get him.

expensive to replace gerrard? he's on his bloody last legs. lucas can step in tomorrow!

we need to buy one ANYWAY he is gone. everyone says so bar a few die hards.

Schurrle is a talented player, and I would like for us to go for him. However, £25m is too much IMO.

There are some quality players who we can get on pre-contracts in January:

Khedira
Konoplyanka
Shar - young talented RCB, could be a good partner for Sakho.

Re. Gerrard in Italy - technically, he'd be suited but I think he would be tactically out of his depth.

meh............... precontract won't fix this season. where is the striker buy. jan 1 or the sack rodgers.... thats reality now.... based on the hope that sturrdige fires us totally to life this very weekend!

Schurrle - decent player but not world class. Tnds to be a mixed bag of some good stuff, some bad stuff. Would be a decent addition to the squad, and would probably improve our first 11. Depends on whether we think he's the standard (at the end of the day, he's a sub at Chelsea for a reason) we should be setting for our first 11 (and for 25 mil he should be first 11).

totally agree.

Think we all need to stop with the delusion to be honest. We aren't gonna be signing any world class players. The Reuses of this world don't want to play for us and we can't afford their wages anyway.

Remember that Sturridge was also a sub for Chelsea. All we need to do is learn not to splurge cash on unproven talent (Markovich I'm looking at you), and spend a bit more where it's obvious certain players will improve us.

He's a sub at Chelsea based on Mourinho's opinion and preference of player. Sturridge was a sub there and Coutinho couldn't get a game at Inter. Its about getting a functioning team, not eleven star players.

Agree. But Sturridge was younger than Schurrle is now, and didn't cost 25 mil. No doubt Schurrle would probably be an improvement; he would be a decent signing. Just unlikely to be one to take us to the next level.

Not sure if you count Sanchez as world class but you could easily have signed him. Him and Ozil are both on the kind of wages Liverpool can pay

We tried to, and he didn't want to join us. But on that occasion apparently it was due to his missus preferring to live in the capital. Which is actually quite a common occurrence, unfortunately.

I think £25million on Schurrle would make a **** load more sense than £20million on the likes of Markovich. So if spending that on him stops us wasting it on someone else, then it works for me!

The capital would be a turn off for me, far too busy.

They won't live in the city, they'll have their mansions on the outskirts.

there aren't many places in the world I'd rather live if I had that kind of money

Liverpool are on red alert over Karim Benzema after the striker revealed he may consider leaving Real Madrid, according to The Express.

The France international, who has netted 11 times for Los Blancos this season and scored against the Reds home and away in the Champions League, is reportedly considering his future in Spain as he is unsure whether Madrid see him as a long-term option.

He was also unhappy with president Florentino Perez's pursuit of Luis Suarez before the former Liverpool man joined Barcelona in the summer

Yohan Cabaye looks set to end his short spell with Paris Saint-Germain in January - and he could end up at Liverpool, according to French compatriot Olivier Bernard.

The former Premier League defender, writing in his Newcastle Chronicle column, is certain Cabaye will return to the UK having failed to nail down a regular starting place for PSG since his move from Newcastle United in January.

Bernard wrote: “He will be back in England in January, absolutely no doubt. He will come back to the Premier League and he will already be looking for a club to join that will get him the games that he needs to guarantee him a place in the France squad.”

Bernard said a return to Newcastle was unlikely, adding: “He loved his time here and I’m sure he wouldn’t rule it out completely – but I think it will be to go somewhere like Arsenal or even Liverpool, two teams that probably need a player who can play in that role that he occupies.”

Not really a link, we were just mentioned...

Barcelona have made right-back Martin Montoya - long linked with a move to Liverpool - available for transfer, according to reports in Spain.

The 23-year-old has been pushed down the pecking order following the arrival of Brazilian Douglas, who deputises for regular right-back Dani Alves.

Spanish publication Diario Sport say Liverpool have been given the green light to sign Montoya in January, though Barca will insist on there being a buy-back clause in the deal.

Do we need another RB?

this is all bad thinking.

if a player is truely dedicated to maximising his career the clubs location shold not matter. they should be resting between sessions not out on the two in london. you know this is the fact lads.

only a few things separate some players from the also rans and the top players... eg... ronadlo/messi/suarez and then you've lots of zlatans and rooneys who frankly are good time charlies.

this is why krome.... mr sanchez aint a top player,
