Looks like we showed an interest in Reading's Alex McCarthy (24 yr old GK) but he turned us down in favour of a move to QPR as think he's more likely to get game time there.

Can't blame him with that reasoning to be fair.

As a wide option, I still think we could go in for Shaqiri.

He wanted to leave, he's not getting a look in at Bayern and his contract runs until 2016, come January I can him trying to push through a move if we showed interest.

I know we have Markovic and Sterling for the wide positions but come January if we have a £20m budget and no pressing issues in the squad then I'd like us to invest in him, a young player with talent who could challenge for the first team..
 
I think Sterling is going to be used in the hole as a first option to be honest, well he should be, anyway. Would love Shaqiri to come, think he's a better player than Markovic and Lallana and has more potential than both, but how amazing would it be having to choose from Sterling/Ibe/Shaqiri/Markovic/Couthino/Lallana for the wide and CAM positions next year? Really exciting times.
