I’d take it. He isn’t going to save the season and I doubt he’ll even do an awful lot, but it’s Messi, if he actually wanted to do it then you have to sign him on loan just for everything that comes with it.

However, it won’t ever happen.

I think it's clearly bullshit but yeah, I'd take him too

Meanwhile, does anyone know how serious Conor Bradley’s injury is? I hope it’s not an ACL. He is a great lad but has been very unlucky with injuries

The only thing I can think of is that his interest in us has cooled. Seen that Real or City are interested and probably either prefers them or thinks he can get a bigger pay day.
And Bayern. And he can sign a pre-contract with the foreign clubs that'll mean he's insured if he stays at Palace for the rest of the season and gets injured. We were the only show in town for him in August (when we should have gone for Semenyo as well, because he, too, was primarily interested in us then). Now we're not. We stalled over Semenyo's desired wages, which were only £50k pw more than Chiesa's, ffs.

He wen't down, really, really, badly. He seemed to have his foot stuck in the turf and twisted his full body weight on the static knee. Not good. Almost exactly the same as how Lawrenson ended his career 40 years ago, but nowadays, thankfully, it's more treatable. But without wishing to be too pessimistic, he'll surely be out until next season, and probably longer, and will never have the same pace. Horrific.

All the more reason to be thankful that it's happened in January, as we can get a DM/right-sided midfielder in there (even on loan) and stop pretending Frimpong is a right-back. But, ffs, I expect Slot will take our best ****ing midfielder in Szobbo and stick him there for the rest of the season. Nor cromulent.

Plus whatever he's getting off the books too

Tbf, having watched it again, it's his ankle and not his knee that gets wrangled. Still very bad, but perhaps not very, very bad. Still think he won't be back until after Easter, though, if at all this season.

We need reinforcements. Badly. CB,RB, a pacy forward.

**** knows who’s available, it looks like we have completely missed out on Guehi and didn’t even try for Semenyo by all accounts - those two would have been huge.

Can't see us buying a forward when we already have Isak , Ekitike , Gakpo , Chiesa Salah plus Frimpong and Wirtz.

RB and then CB are surely priorities atm and a wide forward in summer

2!of which are injured, one is away and may not return, one doesn’t get played and isn’t fancied by Slot )and may be sold), one’s a wing back/LB and one’s an attacking midfielder. That leaves Gapko. We need another forward player, ideally one that can play across the front 3.

well if Salah gets sold this summer we will obviously replace him
Ekitike expected to be fit for next league game and Isak by April so not buying a CF and Wirtz can play as left forward and though i'm in a minority i quite like him on the right .
we just cannot afford to buy a player on a 3 year contract to cover for a few weeks /months.

if Salah leaves, you’re buying for now. If we’d been smart enough to buy Semenyo, do you think it would be for cover?

on Salah yes thats what i said .
no but cannot see us spending £65m on another forward this window unless one of the existing ones leaves

Salah might go in Jan. He was hardly effective in Slots system before he left for Egypt. Chiesa is on his way out and even if he doesn’t leave, he won’t be used…..I completely and respectfully disagree with you. We are an extended injury away from playing kids for a few weeks/months. We needed Semenyo imo. The need has not disappeared because we didn’t buy him.

At least we agree on the other signings <whistle>

FSG are hardly likely to sign off on a £65m signing and say £150kpw wage while having Salah sitting out games on at least £300kpw

and my views on the summer transfer window and the ridiculously thin squad has been posted on here far too many times <laugh>

FSG were hardly likely to spend £250 on both Wirtz and Isak last May….and then throw in all of the others The days of any of us knowing what FSG will do disappeared a few months ago. So frankly, anything is likely.
