I can’t recall seeing a rebuild like it. I don’t have high expectations for the first half of this season, given that we’d likely gave changed half of our starting outfield players.
No, me neither. I think it's unprecedented in my lifetime, tbh.
It's always exciting to see new, quality players come in - but I'm nervous about so many changes.
Add a CB and it's a very strong squad, but other - more acquisitive clubs than we usually are - have shown that just buying decent players isn't enough in itself.
After showing what he could do with someone else's squad, it's like a fresh start for Slot and we need to see what he can do with (presumably) his own picks.

nearly all of this transfer window has seemed unlikely to me <laugh>

Any chance this is just a long dramatic April fools joke that will end on 1/4/2026?

Wirtz, Kerkez, Frimpong, Isak will all go back to their old clubs, happy and content and we will replay all the games up till April next season all over again.

yep….we will see just how good Slot is as a coach. It was critical to keep some of the core; VvD, Salah, Robbo imo so that the essence of what we are is not diluted. I can’t wait to see the quality were bought put to work but as said, I am realistic; literally every partnership has been dismantled…..it will take time but I’m sure it will come together.

Morton has now travelled.

More than I expected so I think some are add ons.

Keeping him last summer rather than trying to sell seemed to have really knocked his value but this is as much as we could expect.

The lad has done really well to make a career for himself. Really worked hard on loans and just did the job at each club.

Its a lesson to many young players who get easy moves like Gordon and they simply dont work hard.

Adding Isak, Rodrygo and a CB to what we’ve already done should deserve a trophy in its own right <laugh>

I really dont see it.

Reports were we didn't want rodrgyo so we need a more reliable sources than one from Brazil to beleive theres anything in that.

Isak is a who knows situation.

The konate situation is unresolved and must be resolved ASAP.

If a cb isn't signed there will be issues during the season.

when you look at the team, the main positions haven’t really changed

goalkeeper - Alisson - no change
LB - kerkez - new ( Robertson)
CB - Konate - no change
CB - VVD - no change
RB - Bradley - no change (frimpong)
Midfield - Mac Allister - no change
Midfield - Szobozlai - no change
Midfield - Wirtz - new
LW - Gapko - No change
CF - Ekitike - new (Nunéz)
RW - Salah - no change

That’s not exactly a big red revolution apart from adding a few better players.

For the first game yes but gravenberch will then be back in and your point is still valid.

If we do secure isak somehow you point is still valid as isak will go in for Ekitike

That would also give us a healthy second 11, with the exception of CB. This assumes that Mac Allister covers Grav at #6

still to sell:

nunez
Elliott
Chiesa
Tsimi

You can look at it that way, but from the point of view of those likely to be used:
Out: Trent, Diaz, Diogo, Quansah, Kelleher - possibly Nunez, Konate.
In: Kerkez, Frimpong, Wirtz, Ekitike, Mamardashvili - possibly a couple more.
It's a number of changes I don't think I've ever seen us do before.
I've included keepers because although Ali is undoubtedly no.1 - Kelleher had been called upon quite a lot.
