Any article that reported edwards did anything related to transfers or lfc player strategy will be made up.
Why?
It's quite simple, if you listened to what the guy said

Also, in assuming this role, I fully understand that it comes with great expectations, and I therefore intend to identify, hire, and subsequently empower leaders who meet and embody the club’s values and ambitions."
Not there to buy plauers.
He is there's to find multi club opportunities and hire the leaders who will run those clus, like Richard hughee.
Simple really, wirtz is going to bayern.
Everyone knows it but someone outside lfc will throw a story together and refer to edwards for a bit of name dropping.

2022/23: £9 million loss
2023/24: £57 million loss
2024/25???
We don't know the answer to this last number but as our transfers were positive and we were in the cl it'd be stunning if it is not a profit
So the real question is whether you load up 24/25 with transfers for the next psr window in January or you hold off a little and spend formally after July 1 and push those into 25/26 and those won't be reviewed for 18month.
Anyway you cut it lfc are going to play thr numbers if 24/25 had a profit and we can even sell some players now we might go push more in there but you cannot ignore the big loss from 23/24 and it's impact for 2 more psr reports.
I think we will probably balance thingss out nicely from.now to July 1 to create the gap.
Frimpong is extremely affordable at the payment terms I've heard about.
Kerkez might not even be real or might be one thst we get done on July 1.

Not expecting to get Wirtz but Nunez IS almost certainly going and Diaz is frequently in rumours as leaving too.

The claim wasn't saying he's buying players, just that he'd persuaded the owners to cough up.
I'm not saying I believe it, btw.
It's long term thinking rather than fixes for next season. Wirtz is only 22 so potentially coming for 10+ seasons. That it we sell him on after 2-3 years for BIG money.
Reality is, he's not coming to us anyway
I get that, but would spending 70m each on two players, or 50m each on three players, be a better investment? 150m on one players is a lot of eggs in one basket. Then again, I probably said the same about VVD and Alison.
If he's really as good as everyone says; he might be worth it. If Salah was 22 and you had the option to buy him for 150M, you would do it right?
150M might be a bargain if he keeps us from falling out Champions League when Salah leaves, and maybe even is the key player in us winning silverware for the next decade.
We were making silly £100m+ bids on promising but far less capable midfielders not that long ago. This seems more reasonable than doing that at least.
The rumour mill has it that the price is significantly higher for Bayern than it is for us - trading with the 'enemy' (and Bayer really don't like Bayern) as opposed to a European rival if you will. The family has spoken to Liverpool so we are at least a consideration at this point. I'm not expecting Wirtz to choose us but at least the transfer decision will be over quickly and not drag on all summer.
If prefer is the spread the cash but I trust the club to get it right
I find it fascinating that we can discuss paying 150m (Euros, I'm assuming?) for one player and not banging our heads on the wall over how crazy that is.
Well spread it over the years of the contract. £120m over 6 years is only £20m a year. We do not put the entire figure into this years numbers. The key is selling development players for good money so that 100% of it lands in this years accounts: kelleher, Morton, jones etc etc (see Chelsea)
personally, I don’t want to see him go. However, for the right price, I’d be ok with it.
