I am sorry but why not just make their contracts massively massively performance related. So they get the figures they are asking but only if they deliver ?

Internet has literally exploded with stories that Hughes offered salah a contract well below that of his current deal.

In november salah publicly stated he has no offer.
In December he commented it was his last home city game
In January he commented after the west ham game the parties were far apart.

Now we are hearing someone thought it a good idea to offer between 50 and 100k less than his current deal
not actually that unusual with players of his age i.e. you can have 2 years at present contract or 3 at a lower amount

Yeah but not with a superstar.

Do you see Messi or Ronaldo or lewandowski or modric ever taking a deal like that?

Even casemiro got wedge off utd based on his name.

Salah will have no shortage queued up to pay him what he asks for. Likely Newcastle included.

given that nobody knows what he’s asking for or what we’ve offered, you may be right or you may be wrong.

Ronaldo had to go to Saudi as no one would pay him what he wants

Think most of ours contracts are performance related anyway

exactly. So if the risk of Salah is that his legs go and you’re stuck with an asset that is expensive and contributes less and less…..so, you remove the risk by paying him more if he continues to perform at the same level but less if he drops off, which, unfortunately, will happen sooner rather than later. It makes perfect business sense. Unfortunately, demand would also be very high for Salah and people are prepared to pay him what he wants so it matters not what we think or what makes sense. Loyalty in football very rarely exists outside of the fans - everyone is out for themselves (nothing wrong with that per se) - so we often judge others from our point of view and that’s where the real issue is. Salah and his agent is out for himself. FSG has a model that suits its shareholders. Websites want clicks, reporters want stories…..when you think about it, football is an insidious industry full of its own importance and always at the cost of us. Personally I’d like to see Salah stay a little longer but no issue if that doesn’t work out - it’s just football.

Only commenting in the context of the rumour that he's been given only 1 offer that's less than what he is on now and tje timing of this was around the time he comments the two parties were far apart.

The people who know are salah and agent and the club themselves. Salah has publicly spoken and has been criticised for doing so.

doubt it is much more performance related than most clubs certainly for the "stars" . The days that we paid low basic wage but with relatively high performance bonuses are gone as far as i can see .

You can only get away with those contracts initially.

I'd be confident that Diaz is on a low wage and high incentives. He was signed from a lesser club but his wages are tiny relatively speaking for a player bought for that much.

They still have a substantial basic wage

We certainly heavy loaded the performance side previously but I doubt it's as much nowadays

From the prem wouldn’t mind below in the summer to add to the squad.

kerkez for LB.
Baleba for CM
Cunha for CF

One of Robbo/tsimkas to move on
one of Nunez/diaz to move on with Cunha coming in to replace as first choice CF
