Not horrendous but does show a couple key players were missing a first/second choice. RB and that DM role. But all those 2nd choice players can at least step in at a decent level and are generally always available bar maybe Matip.

Think 2 more players is fine. Remember we’re in the Europa this year so the 2nd choice will get a lot more game time there where can rest the first team unlike in the CL so in theory means can play the first team in key prem games more often this year baring injuries.

alonso played for us with a tigerish Masch winning balls alongside him and then feeding him the ball in a 4-2-3-1. He was an amazing player whose intelligence countered his only weakness; lack of pace. Arguably the best midfielder in the world for a season or two at Madrid. All that said, I think he’d be exposed at the base of our midfield - most would…..I’d go for pace - a Kante type, who buzzed around the half spaces giving the opposition no time to breath….preferably taller but that’s being picky.

yeah he doesn't make a lot of sense to me personally at the fee mentioned and as he is really a one position kid. I really do think the next digging will be able to play 2 or 3 slots.

I don’t know the player well enough to comment - I just cannot see 3 experienced midfielders replaced by a 19 year old who stood out in a sh*t team. I also cannot see us paying more than £35m, perhaps with a bunch of add ons that increases his value if he fulfils his potential.

matip is done. the fact he is still there tells us the story. any other club chasing top of table would have said sorry and bye to him a year ago.. min.

gomez can cover rb and thsts the only reason he'd be kept by anyone.

that means cb is an absolute issue for us. why? I'll bet you knoate.missed 5-10 league games through knocks.

rb is an issue yes.

midfield needs a senior body. absolutely 100% need.

forwards need to gel and deliver. they are the key for me.

Matip is a good option and prob one of the best 4th choice cb’s there is out there. Don’t get why you think he’s finished, always done well and offers a very attacking threat withh his ability to bring the ball out of defence

Lavia has much more to his game than just a defensive mid. He ball carrying ability is very good as well

not seen a huge amount of him but from what i have seen i agree .Just find the expected cost too high for potential and we all know of young players who it turned out peaked at 18 / 19 .
