Don't want to open a can of worms but a quote I read recently from Yaya Toure said that 'Guardiola doesn't like African players'. Reading between the lines I think he meant a certain ethnicity rather than nationality. It made me go and look at the city squad.

Any reason?

Not sure why but I don't see us getting Lavia.
I think it was Szoboszlai or Thuram not both and with Nice being very stubborn, Szoboszlai advanced quickly. I think we could have accommodated Thuram/ Kone or Szoboszlai/Kone. Kone went off injured in Euros so not sure what the situation is there.

I don't get it. Only one of those is African

Personally Yaya has a severe foot in mouth syndrome.

But if I was manager I wouldn't really want my players disappearing for a month during the season to play an international tournament, but I guess you accept that when you sign an African player.

so if City got 20% of sell on fee of £40m, saints would sit pretty with £32m and worst case £18m profit.

I’d be bidding at £30m (£6m to City, £24m to Saints and a clear £10m profit). The £40m is not relative as if City wanted him back, they’d have him back.

No, the 20% won't apply to the initial £10m-£14m they paid for him. For arguments sake, let's just say they paid £10m...

They sell him for £40m now...
- £10m is theirs (initial stake)
- Man City get 20% of remaining £30m (£6m)
- Saints get the remaining £24m to add to their initial stake, making them a total of £34m from the sale.

Maybe, would make some sense. Sounds like Lavia's the new Kone but gut feeling says it won't happen.

Well the comment was about ethnicity not nationality. So I assumed was trying to reference maybe pep doesn’t want black players?

Or have I totally missed the point.

Not one of those is black African. Toure was talking about players like Mané and Keita, black Africans.

The first player I thought of when I read his comments was Sterling. Not that he's African either but Pep bought him from us so racism shouldn't be a question.

I just read the initial Yaya interview.

It was made in his last season before leaving City where he wasn't playing much. He used the example of Bony being sold by Pep less than a year after joining as some kind of reason for Pep not liking African's (when really it was that Bony was **** and not signed or wanted by Pep). Also made some vague accusations about players at Barca feeling the same, note none of these players have ever said anything about this.

Overall he seemed to be insinuating that Pep doesn't like African's, but does also suggest Pep is racist.

To me it comes across as a player ranting cause they weren't playing and had history with the manager. The idea that Pep is racist or anti-African is frankly laughable.
