Only interested because of the buy back option. Great way of getting a young player game time and reaping the rewards if he meets his potential and presumably paying the club that nurtures him more than they paid for him whilst they had some benefit from his talent.

they are all following in on thuram.

a lot of pundits are covering their bases on lavia like the above as the only source is form the south coast not LFC. It speaks volumes that ornstein hasn't said anything and Joyce is only willing to go as far as saying we are thinking about it

Lavia is NOT for this season. he is an option to try and get value on, if value can be had as in the end you write an 8 midfielder list right now before getting to who is out the door.

it really looks to me like our preseason day 1 team is firm up front, midfield and in goal and we really ought to start thinking about the back line as fans as the next arrival.

if we can tease Southampton with 40mil max (based on the buy back clause that's the max they get) then we should be seeing a move later on. If someone else stumps the 50 I think we are also fine to walk away and look elsewhere.

all this makes me think we are holding the foreign slot open.

Why would Saints accept £40m when City have a 20% sell on clause .

well that's the quandary for LFC. We want to get the best value so we are pushing our luck as they were relegated and are stuck with a few high earners

The 40mil is city's buy back. We might go to 45mil if someone does come in but that is really just getting Southampton up to the buy back.

This is why I think we will play this wait and see and why people like joyce are not piling in on what Southampton sources are saying.

I think it could go to deadline day, who knows. It really depends on who wants a project players as a club who can afford a 50mil fee. He was to go to arsenal 2 weeks ago in the rumour mill but they are saying they want older player.

The thing is though; irrespective of the timing he doesn't take that foreign slot so that is open right now for that CB buy.

Lavia makes sense because he’s 19 and doesn’t need to be registered.

also, our number 1 CB target is HG … ;)
