I think that it’s clear that we all believe that Trent offers something on the ball with his wand like right foot, vision and range of passing. The only thing that most are disagreeing on (I think) is his defensive frailty and off the ball weaknesses - some arguing that his strengths outweigh his weaknesses and even that his weaknesses are more exposed due to our tactics, others (like me) worry about his defending from midfield.

reality is that the team that he will play in next season will be different regardless of his position. So we are all going to have to wait and see

Trent has his weaknesses that are there for most to see but they are amplified by the right sided midfield having no legs and Salah not covering unless it’s a big game.

tbh, I’d be keen to see these rectified before expecting him to move to a more congested midfield where his inadequacies will be exposed more (his strengths will also be played to, to be fair). Maybe too simple a solution but seems like an obvious solution to me, whereas pushing him into midfield doesn’t - just an opinion, nothing more.

Salah used to cover more too. It doesn’t take a genius to see that Trents weaknesses are amplified by others weaknesses.

Personally, I think that his best position in any team would be as a right wingback, with a right sided CB covering him. We don’t play that way so the second best is at RB with a very good right sided midfielder in front of him.

putting him into the centre of midfield where someone running past him would expose the heart of our defence is not an attractive proposition to me. I’d rather play him at RB in that case as if he’s beaten, they’ve still got to beat the CB’s…..so it’s less risky.

like I said, I hope I’ve read it all wrong, some people on here don’t like my opinion, clearly. But they’ve not voiced why he’d be better in midfield, just rubbished my opinion but given nothing as an alternative. People like that need to wind their neck in.

In essence, my post, for anyone with a brain, was talking about him in midfield and how I feared his inadequacies would be exposed. I didn’t even mention him in RB, I simply did not give an opinion on that I’m my OP. You did….and then berated me for it. I can have an opinion that differs to yours and I’ll defend it against stupid comments too. You need to get over yourself. Honestly, you can’t make this **** up
