because they were gearing up to sell. Top team, top facilities, no debt = max return. The problem is that we are no longer a top team - so they will need to invest (or sell at a lower price).

yup all that's true of where they are and the case to now.

that's what the evidence of actions taken tells us.

however there's no evidence really of them being willing to invest heavily, if at all. its entirely on the club revenues.

Apparently lfc are meeting with mac allister camp to present their project

I doubt that the club's value has dropped significantly on the basis of one poor season.

revenue will be significantly down next season, our cost structure is the same (unless we don’t replace properly). Ergo profits will be down significantly. Valuations are usually made up of a multiple of ebitda; in any other business, valuation will be down significantly or they cut costs to suit to maintain profit - if we cut costs, it’s a spiral. Make no mistake, the club is worth less on one poor season.

I agree that they haven’t mate but I also see that they are cornered - the top four for the next 5 to 8 years is being ironed out as we speak (and we are not currently one of them).

Personally, I think that they should sell. FSG have taken us as far as they can. They will never compete at the financial level required now. I think that the Qataris were the intended bidders until Utd realised and came all in. There still may be legs in that process, I guess we’ll see.

I think their greed is the issue.

it is not their altruism thats prevented a deal with oil money. its the demand to keep a slice to keep their fsg revenues rolling.

3billion and 10x profit isn't enough for them.

their ambition is to buy nfl and tests a 6billion bill.

Think he meant PL but he didn't state that tbf

Not a great hit rate. says something that 9 of those are either United or chelsea buys, and shows how poor their recruitment has been for money spent.

Havertz - no but scored winner in CL final
kepa - alright but overpaid
Pepe - no
Sancho - no
vvd - yea
Lukaku - no
Maguire - no
Antony - no but not even full season yet
pogba - no
Lukaku again - no
Grealish - overpaid but doing alright at City this year
Fernandez - looks decent. Early days not even full season yet.

the funny thing is, over 70mil is not far off the English transfer record

if we slide back in time then we find certain players like kdb arriving for big money and most of the vast fees actually coming in not going out.

Chelsea and man utd do indeed seem to be the biggest culprits with a very long list of grossly over paid fees.

let's not forget kepa, Di Maria, lukaku to utd as well as the other lunacy like maguire, pogba, lukaku to Chelsea, sancho, etc etc etc

the only one that's up there with those two mad clubs is pepe to arsenal but that seemed to scald them so badly they've not done it again

it seems to me that these two clubs should get transfer bans just to stop the self harm
