There is a clear split in fans imo... those that are happy for the club to run itself and those that incorrectly think a sugar daddy is the right way forward.

Not even that. Was just the fact someone actually thought they were the worst owners in football.

You can think they’re **** and should invest more, but anyone thinking they are the worse owners lives in a little bubble and probably doesn’t know football exists outside the top 6

Yet we were all sat here moaning cos we were playing ox up front for period of games at the beginning of January.

Can’t win..

Yep. It's a collective failure from the owners down to the coaching staff.

This was precisely the reason why I was worried when Edwards announced he was leaving because I felt Klopp would get more say in transfers.

Looking at the recent signings, there doesn't seem to be any strategy or plan.
I assume Carvalho won't be with us next season either due to loan or transfer since the queue in front of him for left forward is rather long .

We could play with the following next year.

LF-LF-LF-CF-RF
James Milner
LB --CB -CB -RB
------- GK --------

That way our whole first XI can play.

Take out RB and put Milner there as well and can get all 6 of our strikers in.

With Jota and Diaz out for months and Bobby picking up frequent injuries, I would say an attacker was a priority (not higher than midfielder but still quite high).

My beef is that a club of our stature and financial resources, we shouldn't have to pick which issue to fix. We should be able to fix both issues together.

It's just so disappointing to see how this club has dropped - both on the pitch, but more importantly off it. We went from being arguably the best run club to now a laughing stock,

Well I would agree. its very much making do with rejects filling out midfield rather than proactively fixing it over past two seasons.

I just want a club that buys a midfielder every once in a while instead of having a dozen forwards. <ok>

I recognize that we probably needed a Darwin after losing a Mane, Divok, and Mini Me... But Gakpo, as much as a bargain as we may have got him for, and he may turn out good, is a bit odd when there's a massive hole in our middle.

In general I think FSG have been great though. It is odd how they haven't addresses the midfield problem though. Unless they've written the season off and are just waiting for the Jude, Enzo two man punch in summer.
I get what you're saying and I mostly agree. The one thing I keep wondering is how do we know that it's the owners and not Klopp himself not okaying the spend on a midfielder. The money was there for Tchouameni and - again we don't know - but with the view of adding Bellingham and/or Nunes, thus completely rejuvenating the midfield area. We really don't know what goes on behind closed doors, we see the state of the team and just guess.

I’ll say it again. We have 9 midfielders for 3 slots. Until we get rid of some, unlikely to bring new ones in.

It’s not just about transfer fees. Ox, Keita, Milner who look like all off in summer is about 350-400k a week.

Can’t do a chelsea and have a 37 man squad.

Beginning to worry about Konate too on that score. How often has been injured now? A young Matip? perhaps? Or should we expect every CB trying to cover alongside Trent to get broken as often as not?

Agree totally with this
Apart from the two names used
I don’t think we will go for or get either but I believe there will be a plan there

Think it’s more to do with our overall fitness as a squad as we get a lot of injuries
More than happy to see how we come out next season
This one is done
Had a good few years
Totally trust Klopp <cheers>

It's all jam and Bellingham tomorrow. Like listening to Tories about Brexit. The sunlit uplands of Mbappe and Tchachumie (sp). Sorry to go all Ben Elton, like. :emoticon-0120-doh:

funny thing:

we all knew origi and minamino were not up to this league. the world knew it. yet just for once we had 6 forwards and a favourable cup draw (and some real luck along the way) and so 6 words got us a great season.

klopp had to get shut of 3 forwards and he's added two young players and one kid back in. we have in actual fact now got 8 players up top including Elliott and carvalho.

yet in midfield the world and their mother knew ox, keita milner, Henderson were toast and Elliott was not a cm and Jones wasn't making it.

yet... on we went. yes keita and ox convienetlntly got injuries that prevents any hope of a sale.

but we also resigned milner hoping kids would give us a free solution

it was myopic of the club to address one area and leave the other.

nobody could forecast diaz injury and I am very sure had it not happened we would not have bought anyone at all.
