I think this chesela ploy will be found out.

not by authorities par se but in 2 or 3 years time when half those they buy are total flops but they have to be written off the books. it only works if they are amortised over the period. big losses are not sustainable so the 55mil on 4 "kids" has to be paid back from loans and sales over time.

The most physically demanding aspect of yank sports for me seems to be pitching baseballs or quarterbacking.

9 innings x 3 players x 3 strikes = min of 81 throws in a game, average 100, max 125. this is the equivalent of a cricket fast bowler doing 16.6 overs. The difference here is yanks don't do a run up and then don't field either. yanks play 100s of games but have a rotating set of pitchers so they might play 30-40 games?

Quarterbacks don't take hits so maybe the linebackers might be a more accurate impact type longevity equivalent? 1500 hits per season. Thats a lot of hits.

We are talking about asking players to run 12-14km at various speeds and intensities over 90mins with about 60 of those actually moving. do that maybe 50-60 times each year.

Basketball and Ice Hockey pretty physically demanding too... But they switch players out regularly. I'm in my 40's and not a pro athlete, but even I can maintain high levels of activity for 10 mins at a time.

if we look at this, jimmy anderson can do 16.6 overs a day today as a 40+ in test cricket bowling in his style with a long run up and do that for 2 or 3 days depending o nwhats needed. he would not play 35 games but he's get say 7 tests x 3 = 21.

henderson at 33 cannot play even 1 game a week by the looks of it now.

jake cain permanent sale to Swindon.

had a decent loan a year or so ago and then got a strop after not going on preseason and being not let go on another loan.

Best of luck to him

some of the more.... well need to be heard type of hacks, specifically Romano are gambling on a buy and sticking their neck out and rumouring klopp has asked for a purchase..

In transfer news around the league
Bournemouth spend £20m on someone nobody outside of France has heard of
Villa spend £18m on an American teenager
Wolves buy a PSG reject for £4.4m (thats a pretty good deal imo)

klopp's comments suggest he really doesn't expect to get anyone in.

perhaps unless someone goes out.

that tricky 17 foreign players in the prem squad thing.

Arthur is a millstone lol

I liked klopps press conference. Honest with how things are. Not denying that we may need players but also not saying he’s too loyal.

Reference point fact that if we bring players in we still have others in the squad and have a PL and CL limit… think it’s what said numerous times. All well and good saying bring players in, but we have a lot of players who just aren’t pulling their weight in the squad and taking up valuable space.

Not ruling out signings, but think we are just waiting for Keita adrian ox Milner to go and free up room.

Would you spend anymore if you were about to sell the club?

the about to part is the question.

a) how soon is about to?
b) will not buying end up decreasing the price i get?
c) how will buy be done? my money or loans?

this is like mike cashely not selling Newcastle cos they went down. he held on to parachute payments and got back up then invested a small amount in staying up.

not being top 4 is the equivalent of relegation for us given our wages will require revenue to pay them. theres no parachute payments for us so i doubt there are many no cl = reduced wage clauses either.

if they are about to sell then i would expect klopp to not be talking about the summer. i don' think a deal is imminent despite qatari rumours. i don't think utd or spurs rumours are also founded in much fact that anything would be done this side of the season ending.

Therefore i move on to the question that not spending now will decrease the clubs valuation, 100mil now on a laon v losing at least that much in revenue PLU having to spend the same in the summer.

For me this all goes back to when. I cannot se a sale mid season as no new owner really wants to take control not knowing what season 1 looks like. If we were out of CL then the price for club drops. if we are in it then its all guns blazing. You could be forced to pay for a cl club and find yourself with one in nothing with a 100mil hole in revenue to find.

that said anyone stupid enough to apy 4bil or whatever should be able to afford that.

You don't want to buy mid summer either or you end up like Chelsea and just buy random players without a plan cause they're available.

There is no good time to buy a football club. And actually mid-season isn't the worst, so long as you know the club is unlikely to be relegated you can plan for next.
As you say the people looking to buy at 4billion wont care about wage bill or dropping revenues if its for one season.

And if you think about it we're an easier and quicker project than Newcastle, Man City or even the old Chelsea were
