Edwards wouldn't have a non compete clause still active and turned down chelsea for example. Frankly in the grand scale of technical directors he was a pretty small fish but turning down chelsea was really odd on his part as he's only got his rep from LFC and working with klopp cos his work pre klopp was ****.
Ward here is a no mark in comparison and was a make do appointment by FSG. He's not not handed notice but said his is off instantly which suggests a bit more happening. I am think ward is headed to go under edwards again. He's nothing like a real technical director and no other club, never mind a top 5 global force is going to give him that job.
The other guys handed notice last august and were working time til may but have now decided to go mid season which should active a no work clause IMO.
We just don't know what's going on but it is a clear out and the only FSG guy who gives a **** is also off. I am sure hogan is only hanging round as figure head as well and will vanish the second we have a salve incoming.
IMO we are witnessing the entire FSG organisation turn their back on LFC and the rats deserting the ship on the basis they'd be first sacked and they have better offers.
Klopp's always gotten his man and there is no example of edwards blocking a man, theres examples of edwards convincing klopp a player would be good.
Now klopp might be too nice a guy to say LFC wouldn't even bid on touchameni for example or whatever but he is part of the decision and is happy to back the collective decison on finance.
Edwards got salah and robertson in, those are well known. theres been quotes form klopp talking about being convinced. Klopp wanted matip, mane, wijanludm , alisson, vvd, and so forth and so on. the clubs job is to go get those men. Klopp was even quoted as saying certain players were long term watches at drtmund like mane.
In the end technical director role is a lot lot more than doing transfers for the boss.
This person needs to be setting the strategic direction of all levels of the club and managing the staffing decisions and succession planning for academy, womens and men's teams, the grounds keeping. everything. No football manager can do this.
It could be the case that klopp told ward to get these gobshites with the software telling him who will get injured next the **** out of his way for exmaple... who knows. We need better than edwards and ward. we need serious people with serious long term views.
Managers aren't always the best judge of transfers. We literally have a fantastic record of transfers when we finally had a manager who worked with our scouts as part of a cohesive unit. Klopp always thinks Hendo and Milner are absolutely crucial to the team.
Klopp wanted Draxler and Brandt, but Edwards recommended Mane and Mo.
I just want us to go back to how we were before - the whole unit had their input, they all listened to one another and they worked together. It resulted in an almost perfect recruitment hit rate.
This is not to say Klopp has zero say but going by all accounts, Klopp was part of the process and not the overriding factor.

Edwards did not recommend mane. I'll give you salah but no way mane. klopp had his eye n him at dortmund and confirmed it when mane destroyed us at anfield. (thats direct quotes)
The only way transfers work is if the manager supports and approves the target. Buying players they don't want results in a complete waste of time and money.

minamino - klopp never backed him. why? could be down to not ever wanting him.

the thing is if ward is that delicate he can't take the main man saying he's the one i want then he is simply not suited to the job. Its too big for him. He needs to be thinking far longer term than just signing players. give your manager who he wants, then work on the whole strucutre of the club to get it into as good a shape as possible.
That our recruitment will go to sh*t. My criticism over the years has been the lack of spend on more players, but the player identification has been top notch.
I'm worried that we won't target the right players anymore because we're losing the people who do that. Not to mention Will Spearman created the Pitch Control model which is what we use heavily for both recruitment and match analysis. I fear he is the next to go.
Most of all, I'm worried about losing a structure which has proven to be successful (despite the financial constraints that they face). Giving one person so much power is never a good thing regardless of whether it's Klopp or anyone else.
There's a school of thought that says there is no such thing as structure, only people. Get the right people for the right jobs and the organisation will be successful. If however, you do believe that the organisation needs a structure in order to be able to function, restructuring can be even better.
The biggest tell for me, in light of what's happening, is what we know for absolute certainty - Klopp saying we need to take more risks in the market. You can read into that what you will. For me, it indicated that he wanted certain players that were being dismissed and he maybe wasn't happy with that, bearing in mind he knows and works with the financial constrictions. I think he has too much respect for the people he works with to step on toes or make unworkable demands. Something has changed for sure. I trust that any targets we have for January are still being pursued and we have several months to get a new transfer/data team together. Klopp didn't bring his own team with him he worked with what he inherited. Time for him to put a team together of his own choosing.

But on this point, the players DID bring in have brought us success and have been hits. It's hard to see who else he would have wanted that would have had a bigger impact - unless he wants the big names which are currently unattainable.
I just hope whoever brings in isn't a yes man.
Rumours are that we’re hiring the entire Dortmund recruitment staff.
Well given dortmubd actually sign players that's a start.
I am however singularly unimpressed by dortmund on the pitch as they have no winning mentality.
We need to win things as well as buy potentital
Rather than Klopp having too much power... they might be leaving because Klopp's gone ape **** at them over summer activities?

This is the thing though. We don’t know what goes on. If, and it’s a big if, klopp and the technical team aren’t seeing eye to eye on transfers surely it’s best they move on and get someone that can work? Change isn’t always bad.
Would you rather
1. they carry on, not agreeing on things.
2, edwards and Ward move on and klopp stays and try get new team in to work with klopp
3, klopp goes and we keep the technical team and we have to try find s new manager that will work with them?

Thing is, Klopp built teams before he worked with Edwards and co. Edwards and co hadn’t built teams before he worked with Klopp.
no idea, I made it up to make people feel better, I’d rather people feel good about rumours and hearsay and speculation than feel scared or down…
