The issues with Bobby is that his body is starting to slow down now as he picked up a number of injuries last season but more worrying is that his overall play is really regressing. He will continue to score the odd clutch goal now and again but his basic passing, touches, final ball is really poor.

I love Bobby but it's definitely time for him to move on.

but you can milk him for all he's worth as you know we are not buying another forward. just ins't happening.

you've a cavalho as no 6 not minime, you've a nunez not a mane so theres no way we are going to stump up to replace the 5th choice man as well when he's more than useful as sub of 5.

the issues are muscular injuries and a program of rehab for that.

plus not brazil trip. plus no world cup as well all helps him.

he is approaching 31 and is probably 3rd choice now so not sure he justifies an extension .
With the possibility of us playing 60 games a season and with the 5 sub rule also coming in we're going to need the 3rd and 4th choice players in all positions in order to rotate. We don't have any other player who can lead a press like Bobby. He's simply superb at it. I don't need to list his other qualities but to want to discard a player who has been outstanding, a huge part of getting us to where we are now and a consummate professional both on and off the pitch isn't the type of fan I want to be. No place for sentiment is one thing but he still has a big role to play in this team.

Pressing is all well and good but when he's breaking down attack after attack because of under hitting passes, then there is an issue. His off the ball is still very good but his actual technical ability is really suffering now.

I think we can all still love Bobby but accept that he's not the player he once was.

Both Salah and Mané weren't up to the standard we'd come to expect from them midway through last season (you could possibly add Trent in as well) and I don't think any of us thought it was the start of their declines so it wasn't just Bobby whose performance wasn't up to scratch. He had a few injuries which also isn't indicative of how it's going to be going forward. I think we just see his potential contribution differently and that's ok. <ok>

I think we can all accept that.

We also have to accept FSG won't be buying us another 5th choice striekr so we will have to "make do"

a record of better than 1 in 2 gaol contributions per game form 5th choice isn't that bad.

esp if he comes on after 60mins and runs about and is a safe custodian in the middle of the attack.

If he's out for 50% of games thats a different matter

let’s see how he plays with a proper preseason. Elliott was off the pace after injury too - some players struggle with rhythm after injuries. I don’t buy that his technical ability is different, I do buy that he’s not pressing as much or doesn’t have the same energy, that’s quite natural.

Bobby hasn't just suddenly become poor. His regression has been ongoing for 2 years.

nobody i think is really disputing that. He's 5th choice from 1st choice on the list.

he's still got value FSG will wring out of him for the last drop til the stone will give no more.

Same as milner and henderson

others come in but trusted proven players will move to squad positions rather than first choice it seems.

We only buy who we really really want and we make do til we get them. its worked "ok" so far, if city and oil doping didn't exist we'd be multiple league champions here.

Don't forget we've just lost 3 forwards in one go and only added one.

Diaz was probably Mané's replacement brought in early knowing that he was leaving. Jota actually didn't have a very good season which I'd put on a par with Bobby. Nunez obviously is here to be a starter but will need easing in. So all in all we have Salah as a fixed starter with any combination of Jota, Diaz, Nunez and Firmino playing with him. Take Firmino out of the equation and it's not looking too deep.

Also Carvalho as well, though he's probably not going to start. Technically Gordon as well.

Firmino normally plays in the middle, where we've already got Nunez, Jota and if need be Salah who can play there, so numbers wise he's probably expendable. He offers something different to the other options though.

Agree that we should avoid high turnover of players which is why I would prefer to keep Bobby for another year and let him run down his contract, with no extension. Diaz and Nunez will have had time to bed in by that point.

Liverpool expected to agree two departures this week & Man City ref revealed – Latest LFC News
Liverpool look set to sanction a double departure in the coming days, while the referee for the Community Shield clash against Man City has now been revealed. Here’s your Wednesday news roundup.
Two more Liverpool exits now imminent
Having already offloaded Sadio Mane, Takumi Minamino and a host of young players on loan deals, two more players look set to leave Liverpool in the coming days.

Neco Williams, the Wales full-back who has been the subject of speculation all summer, is now nearing a permanent move away from the club, according to The Athletic‘s David Ornstein.

Nottingham Forest, who are said to have been courting Williams for weeks, are reported to be close to a double deal to sign Williams as well as Bayern Munich full-back Omar Richards, with Ornstein adding that both agreements could be in place by the weekend.

Liverpool are said to have been holding out for a fee in the region of £15m for Williams, so it’ll be interesting to see the final figure they agree on.

Meanwhile, another Liverpool full-back, Owen Beck, is now close to completing a loan switch to Portuguese Primeira Liga outfit Famalicao, reports GOAL‘s Neil Jones

A number of clubs in England and abroad are said to have registered their interest in Beck, who made two first-team appearances in the League Cup last season.

Clearly, Liverpool now feel that Beck, who turns 20 this year, would benefit from regular first-team football, and the prospect of a move to Portugal is certainly an interesting one.

Luke Chambers, the Liverpool under-23’s left-back who won the under-19 European Championships with England last week, is hoping for a chance in the wake of Beck’s departure, having been part of first-team training in the early days of pre-season.

Are you happy with only having a 3 from 4 situation if Bobby doesn't extend or do you think we should be buying another forward?
