Before we got Salah that was Mane's side of the pitch and I remember he did well there.

Most effective and slowest player ever. Amazing return in assists and goals allied with work rate that was so far ahead of everyone else (bar alonso).

so so slow. lol. if he has the pace he would have been better than torres

I think he was laughing in the same way I did when Boris was voted in.

it was amazing how effect he was off stuff coming in given we stuck him wide for torres to play centrally.

He had 1 in 4 goal record from wide right and over 30 assists

just to put perspective on this.

Trent (the man the legend) 224 games for LFc (already) 12 goals 62 assists = 84 goal contributions. (we call say this is astounding from a RB playing in a key role)

Kut was 208 games. 51 goals 33 assists = 84 goal contributions.

Just think on that one. thats what i mean by effective.

He was as slow as a carthorse but he was so effective he was imo no 1 name on rafa's team sheet even other the rest.


In 08/09 Kuyt ad 12 goals and 9 assists. Gerrard had 16 goals and 11 assist. thats the level kuyt was at for 5 years or so at LFC.

But god he was slower than treacle.

Also he played in a team that was not as good as this current one :)

70% as good.

Reina (loved him)
Johnson (over criticised Carra (functional) Hyypia (loved him) Risse (good full back)
Alonso (what a player) Mascherano (tough)
Kuyt (effective) Gerrard (leader) Benayoun/Reira (the gap)
torres (the superstar)

Imo the difference is in class at the back. Hyypia. was great but he is not VVD and the difference in assists is amazing.

But its a squad game now and that squad had **** all behind it. We needed up i think playing n'gog and babel v middlesboro and wigan when gerrard and torres were injured.

This season is our first season where the squad has massively stepped up to the level above. Trent had had 3 forwards to aim at in a position like Johnson. Kuyt had to aim at torres etc.

Dalglish was hardly greased lightning either. There's more to football than pace.
