Thing is, only Salah is left footed. Given how we play, having a right footer on that side makes it hard to cut inside and it’s what’s made our two wide players so successful over the last 3/4 years in terms of goal output.

Not sure Diaz was a direct replacement for Salah, feel like was more competition for mane who was approaching last year plus form was hit and miss. No coincidence since he arrived that mane form has improved
I'd love that to be true, but the cynic in me says that FSG only buy when they've sold. Can't see them paying out for Diaz without expecting money to be coming back in soon. Even when we've won competitions before, our net spend hasn't been noticably larger so I can't see that being the case this year either.

I just see Bobby as a happy lad who's fine with his role in the squad. Can't see him wanting to move anywhere. Salah is a different case though!

I worry that Salah will be off and Diaz was always planned to be his replacement - we just had to buy him sooner than expected due to Spurs' interest.

Yep, that's what I think it is

Salah and Bobby will leave. We will sign Nunes and we already have the lad from Fulham coming in. May also sign a defensive midfielder as Hendo and Fabs can't go on forever. We also have the likes of Gordon coming through.
He's being touted around everywhere, even been linked to us (along with about 50 other players and our new manager hasn't even put a list in yet ) in an effort to get his price and wage up.

It might boil down to where he wants to go and where he can get CL football as well as salary.
Gotta admit this claim always pisses me off, not with clubs like yourselves or City but someone who makes it "this season".

Don't tell me a player commits his next 3-5 years on the strength of a team getting CL that season.

Just for once i would like to read about a player saying "i want to join this club because i think i can help them get CL" doesn't matter what club or player just someone showing some faith in himself.

So you want anyone joining United to be deluded then? :bandit:

Or just have a cracking sense of humour <whistle>

I know what you mean, but the likes of Diaz are probably pretty happy he didn't go to Spurs.

**** all to do with my club mate, most of the recent ones have come for the money (like most players at most clubs even your's).
Like i said, as an excuse for joining a club CL is total bullshit.

Of course, he has rocked up at a club that are not only elite but who play a system that fit's him like a second skin.

He is the type of player you want in your team, not one who wanted you because your'e in the CL but one who can certainly help keep you there.

I think this is where our recruitment seems to have gone well. Yes we’ve spent money, you have to really. And we’ve not exactly been a poor relation in comparison to united city chelsea etc, but when we’ve spent money we’ve spent it on players that have been fully scouted and just as important as ability has been personality in order to fit in with the group. No huge egos, no moaning about game time etc.

Looking at players United and Chelsea have spent money on, Lukaku, pogba, Ronaldo, di Maria. Undoubtably talented players, all proven across numerous leagues but we wouldn’t go near any of them.

United need to get away from trying to copy Madrid in 2000s Galatico and seemed to be going that way with few signings but ones they’ve made haven’t quite hit ground.

im sure if Ten Hag is given a few years and proper control on things then can get United playing decent football with hungry players.

I totally agree with everything you say there with the exception of Ronaldo who i think has returned to the club where he made his name as a final hurrah and will give his all whilst here.
The situation you describe with what i call "buying names" was imo all down to Woodward. In the last few months we have had a total clear out at the top and all indications are showing that ETH will have far more say over recruitment than the last 5 managers and will be given time to build something.

Dont get me wrong. I think Ronaldo has carried United and been better signing than thought would be. Guys proven he’s absolute world class goal scorer. Don’t agree with those that say United would play better without him, maybe might run around a bit more but same time no one else can stick ball into the net.

But have seen his attitude at times, laughing when United were conceding against Brighton. Showing dissent when subbed off and not played. I don’t think that is the thing that Klopp would tolerate because it can easily lead to a bad apple in the csmp.

TBF i think he was laughing in a state of "wtf", don't tell me you haven't laughed on the odd occasion your team has played like the keystone cops. It's either laugh or fall down crying.
I understand the being subbed off thing and like it, it shows a willingness/need to be on field to help and many/most great players have that in them.

Maybe, but I think it’s a bit disrespectful from your star player to be laughing at your team conceding. Should be fired up and trying to motivate them not laughing imo

And that's what making me think we won't be in for him, not our style
