Its how Dortmund work and why they are popular with young talent . You sign for them knowing you will get regular game time hence exposure and they agree a low(ish) release clause so players know it is easy(ish) for "big" clubs to buy the said young talent once they have reached the required level .This formula has been picked up by other German clubs hence so many young British players moved there .
I think its more than just dortmund have this strategy. I think they would not want to apply this model every time as haaland and his camp are not good value for anyone. Sancho and bellingham are.
I think the father and agent have worked over the red bull system to their own end and sat down with dortmund at the outset and any other club and outlined that there's be a big bill to come. Dortmund have signed that player for 20 and made 50 and had access to the best young striker (he says at least) in europe for 2? years.
dortmund were happy to be used and did get used.
the issue for me is look at dortmunds progress..... or lack there of. they actually look worse now than they did say 5 years ago. The side looks soft and really lacks that steel to go win things. 2nd, 3rd, 2nd so it looks like they are happy to do nothing in europe, win the odd german cup if lucky and sit behind Bayern in the league.
haaland played 28 last season and scored 27. hes only played 23 this season and scored 21. he would be the next daniel sturridge!!!
just to highlight the elite talent of mr werner at the oil fascists. 34 games 28 goals in final season.
jandon sancho knocking in 15 goals plus for dortmund as well as a young player and look what he is about now.
For me haaland is in for a hell of a step up now and has to deliver and stay fit to justify more wages than KDB AND his father and agent each making more than dortmund.
