i've always said theres always another player but it'd be nice to be in the position of power with salah.

Diaz mane jota all are for LEFT side or central then we are looking at carvalho too.
Firmino, mane, jota are all central possibilites. Jota pretty good
Salah is the main left footed player.

darwin nunez is again a right footed player who started on the left for benfica. I would put him down as central or left as well.

this all leans for me think that firmino would be first to go not salah... or mane second to go.

Diaz Darwin Jota as a line up?

all change all good.

You cannot keep a player that is not happy. He is saying it is not about money. What is it about then?
Length of contract I suppose.
The same thing that was reputedly the issue for Gini. He left for pastures new which didn't turn out to be quite what he'd hoped.

We are exposed and are running the contract as long as possible before stumping up.

If we handed him the deal last june we would have paid 10million extra to him by now.

if we give him 400k a week in may say; then how long do we paya 30 year old that? 3 years or 4. again every year is 10mil quid extra over what he gets today. Is he worth 20mil a year at 33? who knows.

It might be about contract length

Mane can play all across the front line. We signed him from Saints after his exploits on the right

I find him very stuck right out wide and not able to come in and influence. he improved us no end that first year but came alive when we switched him.

I think if you play a convenitional winger on the right you need men in the box and thats not currently our game.

Same for jota as well. every times he is out there he's too far from goal and doing nothing. off the left he is better but best at no 9.

When playing FM, I used to wait until before a big match or cup final to offer a new contract. That pre-match morale boost from signing a new contract was always a good thing. <laugh>

Unfortunately Salah isn't an algorithm to be hacked, or we could sign him up for a new contract before the CL final to guarantee a good performance from him. <ok>

Didn't we give Henderson a new contract recently just so it looks these days that he could become the new Milner? Teams need to evolve to stay fresh. "I don't want them growing old on my pitch" as Shankly used to say.

Paisley.

Shankley made that mistake and won nothing for 7 years and paisley applied the lesson with extreme prejudice

I think it is about money, in particular his image rights.

Allegedly, Mo earns £200k a week in base wages plus £300k a week in image rights (the latter being paid by a 3rd party and not by LFC.

My assumption is that LFC want to buy his image rights as well - just by going off that, we would need to offer him £500k a week just so he earns no less than he currently does - and that'a not factoring any wage increase as a part of his renewal.

I think one of the local journo's had mentioned that we had offered 350k-400k - which sounds great if that is just his base salary. But when you factor in the image rights value, it falls way short.

Mo and his agent played a blinder in keeping his image rights. Clubs normally hold the rights or at least a %.

We're now paying him £200k a week until he's 35, with reduced minutes and role. This was such a terrible decision. As you say, he will become the new Milner which isn't good because we've got a huge financial burden for little return.

its 10mil a year for his captaincy and example to younger players.

I'd rather that than the man utd dressing room where pogba stinks the place up and its utterly poisoned by ronaldo ego.

His value comes from more than just minutes on the pitch.

Id rather have a 34 year old Hendo on 200k a week than a 27 year old Pogba on 100k a week. You can’t put a value on influence on and off the pitch and Klopp obviously feels like him and Milner both provide that and are value for money. Klopp wants Milner to stay even with his limited minutes so he clearly thinks having a great dressing room with leaders is a key part of our success.

Which is fair enough - but we're essentially committing £350k a week in wages to two players who aren't playing much. That is a huge amount. How long we do expect to keep them on the books if we're all want from them is 'leadership' off the pitch?

We're not an oil club so we have to be clever with our resources. You both have mentioned Pogba twice but what if we invest that money in another Diaz or Fabinho, or Salah? Which is more likely given our track record?
