All fair comments. With the exception of City, The previous couple of years, I cannot recall any LFC or any other top flight english team dominating like we did during our PL winning season. I just wish that they’d broken the points record because that would be a real legacy - we dipped when the season restated and I am 100% sure that we would have done that without the break to the season…and I also wish we’d sustained it for a couple of years more. Unfortunately Covid and serious injuries got in the way and like you say, legs have aged - We were relatively lucky with injuries those two years and I do believe that the way Klopp demands football is played, we need a City like squad and good rotation to sustain success.

dominating?

As in winning so many in a row? Chelsea in 2005 won 9 in a row as the prem record and spurs won 11 in a row when they won the double in 1960/61. cheslea ended with 95 points which is not too bad and a then record.

I agree get the 101 record and then its breaking all bounds but the side was shagged that march and the atletico game showed it up. At this point klopp needs to see it.

alisson is still great
trent I'm not impressed by in terms of hunger ofr getting back
Robertson I think is up and down. his positioning is great
vvd is not the same, he can rouse himself but he isn't near his ultimate level (yet i hope)
Fabinho i simply don't think is as fit as he ought to be.
henderson is running about but giving little balance to the side
thiago is simply not cutting it
Mane's form was pants for two years but he seems back to a level now.
Firmino is a shadow of what he once was. doing better this year but two injuries already and headed the same way.
salah is salah. utter dedication.

We have two issues imo. hunger and any time a side parks 10 men we have zero plan b cos they know they can sit back and hump it over trents head and its 2 v 2. We can't seem to break that line as the midfield are all of a type who cannot string passes in and that was the same with windy.

I wouldn't say its klopps style so much as the lack of real quality. City pack the side with attacking cms. the more the better for pep. Cheslea pile up the players too We hold and hold and hold.

milner is a coach at this point. unfit far too much. Thaigo and keita and ox are sick notes. minamino and origi are nowhere near the level. thats 6 out of a 23 man squad right away that were simply not at the level needed. but the bright side we have plenty at the back to develop and grow with

Anyway, best side ever? No not even top 10 imo but it was a great ride.

My list of best ever sides would be

AC Milan 1988-1993 - you simply cannot not mention this side the three ducth masters and the itaian defenders.
Liverpool 1984 - A treble winning side. rush dalglish souness hanson etc
Real madrid in the 1950s. has to be mentioned with the 5 european cups and the legendary players even though we only have old lads word for it.
Barcelona Pep style with messi
Ajax as mentioned with total football and Cruyff.
bayern munich in the 1970s. muller, beckenbaur etc
real madrid galacticos? zidane european cup

you'd have to consider the spanish national team then in 2010-2012 etc

theres probabaly more lads would add.

I'd still give a special mention to our 1988 side with barnes rush beardelsy nicol hanson etc. tragic that side never got to show it in europe.

yes we dominated in the title winning season. And imo, would have broken the points record but for a slow return to football when the title was won. We have not sustained it, which means that this team was only very good fir a 2 season window.

I think you are harsh on some players but I do agree, we need more quality and fitness in depth overall. <ok>

If we compare ourselves to city its not harsh but compared to most clubs it is.

My harshness:

Milner - injured all the time so should be a coach if he's that good a leader and example
Thaigo sick note
Keita sick note

Minamino - not good enough
Origi - not good enough

City Squad:
Midfield is gundogan, grealish, rodri, KDB, Silva, foden and Fernadinho. Out of that lot only Fernandinho fits into the milner type cmap. [HASHTAG]#old[/HASHTAG]

Forwards: where we say they lack. Sterling, Jesus, torres mahrez. which is why they are actually playing foden up there.

I don't actually see the drop off in quality and i don't see the sick notes.

Chelsea squad:

midfield: Jorginho, Kante, kovacic, saul (just cos they could ffs), mount, loftus cheek, barkely. In theory they need lss players due to tuchels favoured formation

Attack: lukaku, pulisic, werner, hudson odoi, ziyech, havertz

so yeah its tough but thats what we are up against and minamino and origi will never be up to it.

We are contending with these sides carrying 5 or 6 quasi passengers at the level.

IF thaigo was fit it'd be ok. Missed 50% of CL so far and 6 out of 11 league games thus far. in fiarness to him last year once he got over the assualt by richalison he gave us good service

If Keita could ever stay fit he'd be good. He played himself somewhat into the side after an injury earlier in the season but is not out again. Last season he missed the entire run in having been put on a training regime to supposedly get him fit. he missed 10 games with ankle injury before that and also have corona, a hamstring injury.

I can't see this as being harsh cos theres about 350k per week there not playing half the time.

There's not really much point in talking about the rest, its not likely they are not triers but compared to our rivals we do not have those attacking cms to slot in up front, we seem to want to push the elliotts and minaminos back and they are even worse as they have no idea on the filling of gaps in midfield.

well, thank god for Klopp then eh?

realistically, do you really think we can compete and build a squad like City’s or Chelsea’s? I don’t. Minamino was what? £7m? Lukaku alone cost as much as all of our forwards put together. Mahrez cost more than Salah and Mane combined. It’s a different world.

frankly, Klopp ha worked miracles since he’s joined.

My worry is everyone is aging at the same time. Realistically, several of our core players are all going to start declining in about three years. We're going to need to replace half our starting XI over a few windows.

Hopefully there are a few more Elliott's and TAAs in the pipeline. We can afford to buy new everywhere.

Klopp has done the business. Its not like cheslea have not signed a massive amount of that side flouting ffp in the process.

I don't think we can build a chelsea squad but I do think we can build a city level squad as its not all that huge.

Ederson v alisson
Steffen v Kelleher
Carson v adrian
Walker v trent
Dias v VVD
Stones v Gomez
Aka v konate
Laporte v Matip
Cancelo v robertson
zinchenko v tsimikas
Mendy (scum of the earth) v N. williams

at that point i don'tthink we've done too mad at all.

Rodri v Fabinho
gundogan v henderson
KDB - we simple don't have his quality
Grealish - waste of money. v keita
silva v thaigo
Ferinandinho v milner
Foden v elliott

Really theres huge quality in the city staff but its not a massive difference bar kdb is best out there.

Sterling v mane
Jesus v jota
Mahrez v frimino
Torres v salah

We have the better of it here. City are only filling in with midfielders.

Really for me its about reliability and fit now.

Ox has stunk the place out in the league cup, played a couple of good sections of games then faded and has been moved all over the place by klopp. I don't think he's a fit really. We have not seen him back at false 9 year.
Milner fitness is an issue now and has been for 2 years. its all hamstring injuries as well so it looks to be recurring. at 35 this is a time to move into coaching thing
Ketia missing 50% of games is massive.
Thiago has been injured 3 times this season so far. huge issue.
Minamino - playing in the league cup is all good but i just do not see the fit, he needs to be close to goal.

Its more about striking a balance with the right guys as what i see is a lot of weekly wages that don't contribute enough.

Wild rumour.

Xavi wants to get thiago off us.

I would, cant be that bad to let go if they have any money (which they dont) I'd have the lad out the door based on the amount of time he is getting on the pitch fit and able to play

That's 200k of wages (min) freed up to being in a new midfield.

Elliott?

Gordan?

I think you meant expensive not young :)

We sign youngsters that are yet to be established (u18s and not playing in ther first team) or we signed players that have made waves towards being established Ahmed are reaching their peak (23-26).

We don't do expensive either
