I'm sure a few can be done later in the window on firesale type fees but theres no way anyone will be queuing up for any of them.

those who might want a phillips are the types that will wait for the bargain fee.

for example wilson has gone from a 25mil player at derby to now a 5 mil player. In fiarness he's got a few assists at cardiff and has played the mojority of games at cardiff but he really has found his level. Thats the market now ,would a few clubs want him? sure. will they queue up? no. Will they want to pay our fees? no. At leas that my opinion.

the hardest to shift imo will be Ox and keita. I can't see any club touching that mess with a barge pole.

I reckon we will be stuck with them and loan a couple more of the not needed types out again.
He wasn't a £25m player at Derby unless the buyer was Brewstered by us .
Keita may get offers and we need to be willing to take a bath but like you can't see Ox being sold as european teams will have no interest and ours should no better .

well, that is true but equally there have been morons who've paid the silly fee like brewster and like solanke. As nobody did it shows he was indeed overpriced as you say especially as he faded badly midseason (and has done similar this season too) he was also awful at bourenmouth which really ruined

Wilson is a championship player, decent and can do things but isn't at the level for the prem physically. I think someone will want him but wil lwant a bargain.

Grujic is another we should have sold 2 years ago but covid has ruined his price.

Phillip has probabaly appreciated in value to about 10mil if someone wants a punt. there splenty of clubs who could do with a lanky head the ball merchant.

I just don't know who will want keita now.

you are right, nobody in their right minds should want ox. He should be another lallana, off on a free in the end.

can we see anyone buying shaqiri or origi?

All of these "can't lose" signings will prove an expensive loss at the end but played their parts i nthe CL success. It all feels like we still gmable a bit and also hold onto players too long.

I'd like to see a tighter squad next season to cut the cloth and hopefully hold the players we have.

Alisson, Kellher
TAA williams (might want to look for a new rb tbh)
Robertson tsimikas (over abused imo)
Konate (if true) gomez
VVD Kabak (if we bother)
Fabinho thiago
henderson milner (need to fix this)
Need a CM, then we will end up with ox and keita and jones
Jota/mane
Firmino needs to be sub, minamino
Salah, elliot

theres a lot of room to improve now but we still have masses of players. its just so many wouldn't get near a top 4 side.

The bottom line is, that if you’re going to bring in a host of players this summer, then the Sherman’s are going to have to get their hands in their pockets. Will they do this to try and appease the fan base post their ESL shame? They probably should do, but I’d have no money on it myself like.

Very true. they ought to be pulling out all the stops to get the anfield road end started on time to advertise thier wares and should be breaking all thier on rules as you say with a "marquee" signing.

I simiiarly can't see it really but it is needed. at least 3, even at that we'd have masses of spare players

I would say CB, CM and an attacker. I’m not fussed if it’s a ST or a wide player. In fact I would prefer a wide player like Raphinha as I think we need an injection of pace and someone who can take players on 1v1. Also we have scored plenty of goals without having a proper 9 since Klopp has come in.

The key thing is that they all need to be of starting quality or close to i.e Jota style

Konate and Kabak
Bissouma
Raphinha

Then we need a back up to Trent.

1. we need a finisher.
2. We need a quality CB that fits our style of play (not the sh*t style we’ve seen this season though!)
3. We need more, reliable legs in midfield
4. We need much better quality cover for Both of our full backs.

So broadly in agreement with you and mito.

also totally agree with Tobes....ain’t gunna happen <doh>

Whether we sell them all is one thing. That’s just a list of players who are dispensable.

in terms of finisher, I’m not entirely sold that we need a pure 9. we haven’t had a natural striker playing regularly for us since Klopp joined us but We have scored plenty of goals just fine.

Mane and Salah are the main source of our goals and they have a conversion rate of approx 20%. When you only have 2 goal scorers in the team, you better hope they both deliver. Unfortunately, mane’s rate has gone from 20% down to less than 10% and that’s the big issue with our attack. Because Salah is still scoring goals at a good rate, and bobby has been around < 10% for 2- 3 seasons.

So Bobby and Mane convert from 1 in 10 chances and Mo from 1 in 5. For wingers, ok... guess you take a lower conversation rate but as a #9....it’s nowhere near good enough imo. Just out of interest, how does that compare with different forwards?

I agree with others on here that the lack of goals from midfield is also a problem but I also believe that it is indicative of how we play, more so since we lost vvd.

Finally, our threat directly from corners and free kicks is zero. Again, since VvD got injured, we’ve been shocking there too.

In short, the pressure to play every game and finish their opportunities this season is massive, they know if they don’t deliver, nobody else will.....and while Jota relieved that pressure for a while, his injury also knocked us back and he hasn’t been the same since, understandably so.

put it all together and hey presto, we are average. My guess is that VvD returns, assuming no complications, and our game steps up a level.

So, all said and done, one CB is still required (at least) - we should never begin a season with only 3 fit CB’s again. Ever.

Fresh legs in midfield are needed. Milner will move on and with the best will in the world, Keita hasn’t stepped up.

That #9 with a better conversion rate than 1 in 10

proper replacements for both Robbo and Trent - how many £50m+ full backs do City have? Guess why!

Thing is, ideally you want as many scorers in your team as possible. Now so far firmino hasn’t needed to score 20 goals but he normally chips in with 10 in the prem and vvd chips in with 5. If firm is getting 5 a season and vvd isn’t getting any due to injury that’s 10 a season You're missing, that could be difference in 5/6 games. How many have we drawn by 1 goal, or lost by 1 goal.

I do think our lack of midfield goal scorers is a problem. It’s not really been huge issue last few years when Salah and mane have been scoring for fun, but it does put huge pressure on them abs although we don’t really have an attacking midfielder in the way we play, someone that can chip in with 5 a season would be nice.
