I agree with this, the logic is completely wrong. Players perform when managed properly. That's why Pogba was a success in Italy and looks like Carlton Palmer at Man United. At Juventus they played to his strengths and ignored his weaknesses. All players have both. The same applies to Salah and KDB, the systems used at Liverpool and City suit them and at Chelsea under Maureen didn't. Therefore the issue is with the manager not the player. It is essentially the difference between putting a round peg in a round hole and not a square peg in a round hole.
All players struggle when the system isn't right. Top managers ensure that the system dictates and the players adapt around the system. Poor managers let the players dictate the system and team is built around them. That is what Brendan Rodgers got wrong. The system was built around Luis Suarez instead of Luis Suarez adapting to the system. When Suarez left the whole thing collapsed. He was more important than the system.
It was different when Coutinho left. He wasn't fundamental to the system as he was only a cog. The system itself remained intact.

Utd started doing that and he played well even if in easier games but take the two no 6s out and suddenly he's rubbish.
Juventus played with a system with a DM Vidal/Marchisio and a DLP Pirlo and Pogba played a non disciplined role. He was free to do what he liked in a free role. France do exactly the same. Pogba hasn't the discipline to do anything else. It's similsr to how we used Steven Gerrard under Rafa. Xabi was the DLP, Mascherano was the DM and Gerrard had free reign but there was security. There is your system.
If you expect players to do what they can't, there is no system. That is the problem with Pogba, there is no system.
My view of utd is OGS either got lucky at outset with the team he picked OR he hadn't the big picture view to get back to it once he was in the trenches with the injuries
I really think utd had shaw runnning about (not fat) on the left and lingard on the right doing the same work and then herrera and matic sitting.

I disagree slightly on the coutinho bit. We had to change the system so that we create heavily from full backs and our midfield became more tactical disciplined at the expense of creativity and goals.
The overall output stayed the same but the style has changed.
Our system now is stronger by design but I think adding quality players like Alisson and fabinho has made an impact

It's not 'stronger by design' it has evolved. However most of the components remain intact. Barcelona were beaten because they hadn't the legs in midfield. We may have lost 3-0 in the first leg. However how many teams out possess the best possession based outfit in the world?
However in the game at Anfield, the style changed slightly, it was more crash, bang wallop. Klopp deployed blitzkreig. It was in your face for 90 minutes, however even that has evolved since Klopp first arrived. It is not as fast paced because it's not possible to do so for 90 minutes.
It's more switching through the gears when it's required to do so. It can go from first gear to 3rd gear and then back down to 1st gear in minutes. It's the defensive solidity that allows to switch through those gears.
Klopp calls it more mature with additional discipline and that is where the evolution is. Can it be evolved even further? Of course. It also takes improvisation and intelligence and quick thinking. It is also taking matters into your own hands. That is exactly what Trent did. He wasn't following instructions, he intelligently improvised and it worked.
Something similar happened against Newcastle. Trent was going to take the free, Virgil said no, leave if for Shaq and told Shaq where to deliver it. Shaq delivered and Divock finished. Again that is clever improvisation and taking matters into your own hands. It delivers results. Is this more evolution? Of course.

The evolution we need is really to be able to switch on that high intensity when we've got a side rocking. too many times i felt at 1-0 this year sides wobbled and we didn' kill them. get that second goal after the first... we lost that imo.
Against cheslea for 15mins... my god we absolutely crucified them. it was "high risk" but as you said the defence could cope if Chelsea did get out of press. once second goal went in then Chelsea got a purple patch and we rocked a bit.
the biggest single thing I feel we need is a player in midfield to bridge between fabinho and keita (assuming those are the others) A player who knows when to sit beside fabinho and shore up but then a guy who knows when to push on and drive the side on and leave fabinho to it. thats intelligence for me.
Exactly. A player who takes the sting out of games, when the game gets fast, slow it down. It would mean taking off one of the energy players. You can play at a slower pace when the opposition are left absolutely shagged chasing shadows.
Such a player, for example a passer unlocks stubborn defences. The likes of Naby Keita and the Ox are useful with space to run into. That space has to be created and a passer creates that space. It's when pressing and counter attacking dossn't work. You cannot press or counter attack when 10 players are deep on the edge of their own box.
