Don't think he turned us down, think it was more a matter of once Chelsea were interested there was no point in us pursing interest in him.
was linked with us but Spurs bid for him & he arrived in London for a medical where Roman had him "persuaded" by Ivan & Sergei that blue suited him much better.
I think we offers half the fee and half the wages thinking we would get him and spurs out bid and then Chelsea gazumped them.
