I agree with what you say here. However, when you look further afield and specifically at the Shaqiri 'incident', there was clearly less of a feel good factor amongst some of the players and fans.

When it's kept at a light hearted way then it's great but this particular incident was always going to blow up for obvious reasons.

Some people are happy living in a decent house, watching what they spend, food shopping at Aldi, driving a corsa.

But some people want more - they want a big house, cars, enjoy the finer things in life, holidays.

Just because some people are content with having an average life doesn’t mean that others shouldn’t aspire to want more.

Then they are greedy bastards. The life you describe is, in people terms, not that average and you make average sound like failure. People can want a bigger house bigger cars etc etc but it's just gluttony from that point on. I'm not going to say people should be stopped from being resource hoarders but let's not paint it as them somehow being better human beings, especially when all they are in this case is entertainers... they aren't inventing ways to save the planet, healing the sick etc...

Aspiring to achieve things in a career etc I can understand. Wanting to be more rich for riches sake ...pffft if it was a banker you were describing rather than a guy kicking a bag of air I'm not sure you'd be talking about aspiration.

Yeah, very similar, been to Glasgow and Edinburgh many times, but never woke up naked with a load of skirt wearers phone numbers next to me.:emoticon-0100-smile

I was with a group of them all day in town the day they played Wales at Anfield in the WC qualifier, great lads, they said if I got them into the pubs and clubs that weren't letting Scots in on the day they'd buy the beers.
Got the into a few bars and an after hours club(The Yankee Clipper)back when the pubs shut at 3 in the afternoon, we ended up in a pub called The Slaughterhouse (still exists)and there were a load of Wales supporters in there, they shook hands with the Jocks I was with and the started singing "We Hate The English" and a Welsh lad started giving me grief, but fair play to the lads I was with, one of them said "if any of you ****'s touch him we'll batter yous"(in a Glaswegian accent of course) and we carried on drinking with no comebacks.
Very enjoyable day, kept in touch for a few years but just lost touch after that.

There was another occasion involving Glaswegians. I was on the train from Euston back to Warrington. I was pretty pissed when I sat down as I'd been in the Royal George waiting for the 7.30 pm off-peak. I had 4 cans of Carling with me. There were about 20 jocks in my carriage who were obviously together. They had bin bags full of cans and ice <laugh> I was watching them play pontoon and one of them asked me if I wanted to join in. I said I would, but I had to go and get some cans as I only had one left. He said not to worry about that.

By the time I got off at Warrington, I was absolutely ****-faced and had won fifty odd quid at pontoon <laugh> A load of them gave me phone numbers as well

They come down to the local villages when there's rugby on not just Cardiff and everyone gets on fine.

The Welcome Naby video's are all doing the rounds I see.

Nice little touch that Gerrard personally met with him to give him the number 8 shirt.

Thing is Gerrard is the manager of Rangers yet he was at Melwood to welcome the player to Liverpool?

If it was the other way around I'm sure our supporters would be pissed off that our manager was at his former club acting as an ambassador.<laugh>

You always seem to make friends where ever you go.

I agree.

They are meant to already be in preseason too!

so there he is handing out no 8 liveprool shirts?

Maybe he is stealing another u18 coach or begging for another offcast?

we can let him have sturridge for free.

This was done last year when he was youth coach apparently.
