Shaqiri's national allegiance is a bit odd. He chose to play for his adoptive country rather than birth country but obviously feels more Kosovan/Albanian than Swiss. Apparently in 2012 when Switzerland played Albania, he refused to sing the Swiss anthem. He also wore boots with the flags of Kosovo, Albania and Switzerland for the match, so not the first time he's done that in this WC. It's not as if Switzerland are a footballing giant, makes you wonder why he chose to play for them at all.

Compared to Kosovo, Switzerland IS a footballing giant.
