BREAKING: Daniel Sturridge has told Liverpool he wants to leave the club this month. The Reds are prepared to sell - but they want £30million for the striker, writes @JamesPearceEcho.

Klopp remains keen for Sturridge to stay for the rest of the season but will grant him his wish if Liverpool receive an offer which they believe matches his value. (James Pearce)

As it stands Sturridge isn’t available for loan with the Reds only considering a permanent move. That position could change later in the window if the asking price isn’t met and there’s a hefty loan fee on the table. (James Pearce)

Liverpool believe the £30million price tag is fair in the current market for a striker of Sturridge’s calibre. (James Pearce)

£30m for a sick note?

That's gunna work

No surprise and can’t blame him. He wants to play and it’s clear he’s not first choice here.

WC year and needs to be playing as could be his last one.

Won’t get £30m but anything around £20m wouldn’t be terrible given his injury record.

If we get more than what Everton got for Barkley then Anderson's going to build them 2 stadiums

£30mill is only £10mill in 2016 money. It's not that big a deal anymore. I don't think it's unexpected.

Sturridge's wages are the problem with any proposed move, so the lad has a choice, take a pay cut to get a move and do his best to make the World Cup Finals squad, or rot away on the subs bench counting his money while his career goes down the toilet.

I'd say he'll choose the latter and run his contract down.<whistle>

Or option C; Liverpool continue to pay part of his wages
