As a fan I think he has left on a bad note. It is pretty much nailed by Carl in the one of the above posts.
I understand why Barcelona want to Couts but they are using him as a comforter. That said Barcelona are only doing what they think is right for their team I have no beef with that
I am fine with and understand ford going. I have no problem with that. What I do have a problem with is the emotional letter that treats us as Carl says as fools.
My feelings on ford are that of meh - he was with us and now he’s not.
He will undoubtably improve at Barcelona and his value will most likely go up not down. He is not a legend but he is not a crap player he was a good player that did well for us and who will get better, similar to sterling for me.
As I said yesterday, it's not the fact that he wanted to go to Barca that's the problem, it's that he left half-way through a season that he was playing a vital part in and it's unlikely that we can find a replacement. If he loved LFC as much as he is making out, then he'd have stayed the last four months to ensure we did as well as we can.
I'd rather he'd just said "Sorry, I saw my opportunity and took it, so tough ****", because that's what it amounts to.

agree with this.

He's been there for a while and was a magical player. However, he didn't win stuff (not necessarily a pre-requisite but it helps). Memorable like Suarez but not a legend of the club although i think in this day and age, you won't get the legends of old who spend their best years and is a superstar at most modern day clubs

never nice on a very personal.level.

honest effort but didn't work out so
I never hated Rodgers like some people seemed to.
He was a bit of a bullshitter, and the 3 envelope thing was cringe-worthy, but he worked hard under difficult circumstances. LFC must be one of the most stressful jobs in modern football, because the expectations far outweigh the current capabilities. The pressure to get back to the top is enormous, but the chances of it happening aren't great.
It's going to take someone special to achieve it, and it wasn't him.
Anyway, he found the ideal convalescence - winning everything in a Mickey Mouse league.

Yeah I know but in the end he tried his best but yes a spoofer. I really can't tell if he's telling the truth or exaggerating but i try to take stuff at face value most of the time.

according to the bbc yesterday mark robins is a legend for utd.

thats 27 years ago. its that days of yore before football was invented?

ahem btw Messi?

why i said most modern day clubs.

Most of the times players get poached off them if they are superstars.

Only the top top top clubs and even in that criteria only the clubs who value their own enough will pay the contracts to keep guys happy.

Buffon joined juve and stayed even when they went down. Legend for me. not many would do that
Messi did his thing. Joined very young and has screwed every penny out of barca. The reality is many clubs would pay him anyhting to go so barca had to be dragged kicking and screaming to pay him.
Ronaldo has stayed at real 8 years? it would be 9 if ferguson had let him go right away. Thats really a career. I mean not everyone can be born within 5 miles of a elite club.

I think theres 3 thresholds here

1. Do they even last thier contract length?
2. Do they do their contract and **** off like ballack did for you or goretska or matip or half the german league
3. Do they sign more than one contract and fulfill them to spend their absolute best years at a club (say 22/23/24 to 31/32)

Is ronaldo not just as much a part of real as messi is barcelona?

There are more questions than answers....

I never hated him either... He was just too soft to manage a top football team. Lacked backbone and ability. As an individual he was likable.

Woy is our only past manager that I can think of that I really didn't like in any capacity.

Rodgers got far too much stick imo, he was alright and gave us our most exciting PL campaign.

Not going to have too much sympathy about the stress thing, the only decent thing Mourinho has ever said:

"Pressure is millions of parents around the world struggling to feed their children, that's pressure. Not football"

Tbf Stevie, Suarez gave us our most exciting PL campaign, Rodgers played 2nd fiddle to him that season, although Rodgers like the other players played their supporting roles superbly.

yeah... bit like roy evans tbh.

roy was walked all over by the spice boys. if he had backbone he would imo have won a league.

players were less fit and less disciplined that utd. pure and simple

Roy has fowler at his very best. Mcmanaman...

In 1995/16 we finihsed 3rd and runner sup in fa cup to utd.

That was the cream suit brigade

More disciple and that team could have won things. (but wouldn't have had a fat drunk like ruddock in it)

Redknapp in his prime prob
Mcmanaman
Fowler
collywobbles
mcatter right wing back
john barnes at cm was great on ball but couldn't move

calamity james in goal playing PS all night.
back 3 formation with ruddock and babb and scales
mcateer and bjornebye as wingbacks
midfield 3 of redknapp barnes and macmanaman
folwer and collymore up top with rush stil lthere

A bit more discipline all round for sure. the drive and passion utd had for work and the fitness levels were a step above imo

utd team
schmichel
irwin may pallister p.neville
beckham keane butt giggs
cole cantona

can't tell me that utd with schoeld and neville coming on as well were not fitter but not necessarally better. That utd central partnership v redknapp and barnes...

At that time the story was just one CM and we'd win the league we got ince never happened

then it became just one CB then get get hyppia.. never happened

Then under rafa.. just a wide man... never happened

We get close but we fail to go the extra mile in terms of sacrifice on the field and backing off the field.

IMO under klopp we've a lot of good things but we are making do in far too many areas

My positives:
Kirkby move. Self funding move by building houses. but needs to be underwritten til it pays off. BEST MOVE IN 20 YEARS IMO
Anfield. 4 year payback on main stand. please just do the anfield road end. Anfield is special.
fitness and coaching. Klopps turned a lot of guys round and in terms of mentality and just pure gym work.

my negatives:
making do at LB, GK, CB, CM for 2 years Its unreal. we can all see it.

I didn't get to see too much of the Roy Evans era due to the whole internet streaming not being an option and not much on TV here. Wasn't really until end of Houllier reign I really got to start watching much.
