I'd be quite interested in how many rumours actually happen, I imagine it's a very low percentage. Sick of it all now we need to get a defender in without a doubt and if it's not VVD then get another target it's very frustrating.

Totally disagree. Lovren & Klaven are comedy gold, the majority of the football community are enjoying watching them play. <bubbly>

Do they? Football clubs are private entities and are allowed to accept/reject offers at their will. They are not obliged to accept identical offers.

A contract works both ways - if VVD was to say that he wished to move to Liverpool, and Liverpool matched all terms that Chelsea did, then under contract and employment law they wouldn't have a leg to stand on. Bottom line is, even though VVD has put a TR in, all three parties have to agree a move, not just the two clubs.

Moot point though - VVD will go to Chelsea if they stump up enough money and Soton say they won't listen to any offers from Liverpool.

If you lot genuinely get that offer from Barca of £101m upfront and 35 odd in add ons you should probably just take it tbh.

Why, just WHY at this stage in the window? Plus, Barca being Barca, it isn't 'Upfront' at all. It's more than about money now - if FSG climb down under any terms whatsoever now they may as well sell the club on 1st September.

Southampton would be under no legal obligation to accept an offer from Liverpool, irrespective if it matched the terms offered by another club.

He's their player and under contract, they can choose to sell - or not - to whoever they choose.

And VVD can choose not to be sold to any club that Soton choose. For the umpteenth time, a contract works both way.

Irrelevant. You said they'd fall foul of contract and employment law if they refused to accept an offer from Liverpool that matched another that they'd received - they wouldn't. <ok>

Arsenal and Liverpool have been given fresh hope of signing Jean-Michael Seri from Nice after his proposed move to Barcelona fell through, reports in Spain say.
Seri has emerged as a target for a number of clubs this summer and Tottenham are also believed to be admirers of the 26-year-old midfielder.

<laugh> because it was never happening, Barca were using him as a threat. 'Don't accept our offer and we'll move on, look we're bidding for Seri (not really though)'

Its very simple why. Its mischief on the night before our cl play off tie to disrupt our prematch preparations.

Its a long shot but my view is they want to upset the dressing room or get klopps eye off the ball so we end up in europa and habe to sell.

Note what they did prior to first leg.;)

That could explain why there have been so few (if any!) direct transfers between us and the mancs. The clubs refusing to agree to such transfers even when they get poorer offers from other clubs.
