If they sell Neymar they'll have £130m (Never mind £100m), no excuses. THEN, and only then, can we decide if we want any of their players, and we'll have the cash to buy them.

Commolli has been in one of the papers today (forget which one) saying that, unlike the distressed sale of Luis three years ago, we have absolutely no need to sell, financially nor contractually. It's Barca who are now in financial straits, and just like PSG knocked them back over Veratti, even though they had a contract agreed with him too, PSG simply said they didn't need the money - **** off.

yeah IF..

theres so many rumours who knows whats the story.

I think we 100% will not get anyone in a deal as they represent bad value 99% of the time when a player is shoved out a door at a club as make weight. Can anyone think of one that has been brilliant?

Comolli is right. Barca are in trouble. they are overpaying the front 3 to a huge amount. If they let messi go they would be ok but its ego.

I know you don't want to sell him, but if Barca did offer a daft figure like £100m for Coutinho would you want them to take it?

He's a quality player, but for me he's inconsistent and has too many games where he's relatively anonymous, I don't think he's worth anywhere near that amount.

Rumors going around that VVD has handed in a transfer request. To be honest I think this is more a green light for Chelsea or City to come in rather than us, I can't see us risking it.

Sanchez springs to mind. Would definitely have softened the blow for suarez.

Owners would snap it up.

Who could we buy as a replacement though assuming klopp had the money to spend?

Virgil van Dijk can win the league with the Reds - if he signs and Philippe Coutinho stays.
Well, that’s if Micky Quinn, talking sport on talkSPORT, is to be believed.
Mane’s back fit, they’ve signed Salah, they’re playing lovely football where they left off last season.
I think they’ll be a title challenger and I think if they get Van Dijk and keep Coutinho, they could even with the league.

Chelsea bought Rudiger cause the couldn't be arsed waiting for VvD to sort his **** out (seriously whats taken so long to hand a transfer request if he really wants to leave), can't see them being interested, especially as they're supposed to be looking for CMs

Citeh perhaps, they've already mentioned they're looking for a CB. But since he's already declared he wants Liverpool and there haven't been any links with them since the mess we made, who knows.

Chelsea have got many good players than Liverpool, VVD may not be playing week in week out there if he goes to Chelsea.

I wouldn't. The money is only any good if you spend it to improve the team, and all clubs (not just ours) have a history of wasting a lot on players who just don't work out for one reason or another.
Coutinho has been inconsistent, but I think he's shown strong signs of improvement in that sense, and I'm really looking forward to seeing him in a deeper role, with the runners we currently have in front of him.
Also, it may not have escaped people's notice that I'm old-school in this regard - I think a team should keep its best players, keep continuity and continue to build a team ethic and understanding. Too many changes every year disrupts this development, imo.

I'm probably in the minority. I'd sell Coutinho for £100mill, on the condition that we would spend that money on another world class talent. I don't have a suggestion who, I'm not a scout or watch much outside my own team.

Several reasons. 1) I'd trade Coutinho for someone slightly not as good who was consistent. If you're going to be the creative Force for the team you can't have off days.
2) if Barcelona made a £100m bid and we didn't accept I don't believe Coutinho would be in the best mental state for the club going into next season.

He was inconsistent Tobes and sometimes struggled to compete for 90 minutes...but not last year. Last year, when properly fit, he was excellent until his injury and then he came back a bit too early and took a while getting back to full fitness.....then he was excellent again....I think he's about to get very good....assuming he stays injury free.

£120m in today's market.
