So VVD isn't on tour with the rest of the players in France....

Not really a biggy - it's only France. It's just over the water from Hampshire, and they smell a bit French too. If they had gone to Asia or America or something that would be more significant.

**** and ****ter.

I must say last year watching Everton roll over (again) for LFC i had to wonder was robles bribed to let in goals as at least 2 of them looked like he should have saved if he'd even moved. the game ended 3-1 to us and if everton had a decent keeper or one that moved they might have draw it.

in many ways everton should be thanked as they rolled over and convinced utd to not try any more for 4th. those 2 extra points got us 4th <ok>

On first sight I thought that Origi had hit a 35-yard screamer on the lines of a Gerrard or an Agger special. Saw the replay and the goalie standing like one of Lewis's and I thought my sister could have scored that.

I think its all part of their response to the situation they have now at hand. He will be with u23s or whatever shortly and frankly its really down to whether they feel they can cope in 38 league games with what they have now they will risk him not playing at all. they won't care what condition he is in.

there are only two scenarios left here.

player climbs down and plays.. with stony faced fans
or
player is sold and southampton fans boo him at every turn for making them 7x profit.

Really the best thing southampton could have done for thier club was ell him in june and take the money and reinvest.

at this point they need reinforcements before playing staff get so expensive its unaffordable.

gabbiadini looks like a good forward, he could keep them up.

forester (slowest ever kicker)
cedric caceres? yoshida bertrand (not sold)
romeu (very good) davis (hard work)
ward prowse (good lad this) Redmond tadic
Gabbiadini

Overall saint have a decent first 11. With VVD in there you'd be dissappointed actually to be bottom half. thats the rub for saints. I really like Ward prowse and Gabbiadini (better than what everton have now IMO) But that Cb area aint good with out him.

I think they needs to sell on fast and replace OR dig in and simply refuse to sell. (publically what they are doing)

yup. thats it. its like he was bird watching or something and completely missed it.

Robles is off this window - thank ****

Such a weird keeper robles and stecklerberg. They etiher have absolute stormers and save everything or they play like dogshit and let in the ****test goals on earth. Both so inconsistent especially robles who half the time doesn't even bother moving and never looks like he's set.

didn't Stephens replace VVD during the injury lay off - pretty effectively from what i saw.

he did. he wasn't marvellous. I'm not sure what Cb they will use.

they have a lot of decent players there. Ward prowse, redmond (i don't really like but) gabbiadini, romeu, Davis, bertrand, forester (at times)

they just need to do better. not sure on this latests managerial appointment but we will see. I just think they really didn't want to lose van dijk at all but now are in the situation where its going to pull them apart and distract everyone as the new manager settles in and they would have been better parting form him last june. Really don't know how they resolve this one without affecting squad on some level.... for example gabbiadini looks a player... he's on a contract to 2021... will he be thinking ****... if someone good form italy comes in now i am boned... it can unsettle lads.

yeah, unless you are totally neutral on that board, most of those guys are proper touchy and they have a hate for anything that isn't soton.

I went over for a friendly discussion about Fonte and in general it was pretty **** until a lot of posts after.

Yeah it's a strange one for sure on our board, you post quite a bit on our politics thread though don't you?

Bunch of morons to be honest mate <laugh>

Really odd board to post on as a visiting fan, pricks!

*cough cough*

They went into [HASHTAG]#meltdown[/HASHTAG] when I had a [HASHTAG]#legit[/HASHTAG] discussion that we would sign Van Dijk

The called LFC dirty, I pointed out we won the Fair Play league, they threatened to ban

That's not strictly what happened though is it Astro?

You came on, talking your normal astroball bollocks, got a couple of bites then I asked about Klopp being overrated and you done one not to be seen since :)

Caceres has gone. Only signed a 6 month deal and there was rumours he got caught out sending a 17yr old girl naked photos...

Stephens played from January onwards and looked pretty good considering he was thrown in at the deep end. Improved as time went on too.

We've got a decent squad base mainly need a DM partner for Romeu and a goalscoring CM, along with any replacements.

I expect the likes Hojgberg and Boufal to improve in their second seasons too.

Yeah i was contributing a bit on the politics thread. It's been quite good since it's calmed down a bit, there was definitely a lot of hostility in the run up to the election and it was a proper jungle.

I meant in the footballing threads, any criticism of the club theres definitely a strong and pretty personal bunch who have their blinkers on and don't like any discussion that makes the club look bad.

I've not really got involved as unless you're praising Southampton, theres not really any discussion to be had. Anyone who moves away from the club are dead in most of the supporters eyes, it's certainly an interesting bunch lol

You've probably seen that they do that with Saints fans too.

Not allowed to criticise or your spoilt, not a proper supporter, don't understand football blah blah ****ing blah.

Why I've had enough really and post on PL board more than my own now <laugh>

welcome here any time. the more wums slagging our team off the better we like it.

In fact we might actually discuss REAL football sometime. If these lads would actually ever let me

Has he? i was wondering. was not impressed with him either. Stephen was only ok. he was very inexperienced. Might stand to him this year. Does he look like he's developed over summer?

trent alexander arnold looks like he has quite a bit for us already.

Hojgbreg is good too.. yes, but will he get a game with davis and romeu in centre?

I'd be worried at CB for you if you don't keep VVD. But i'd be more worried about the effect on squad this is having. the more it goes the sorer it gets.

balotelli was a total disaster for us for another reason but i highlighted everton and lescott back in 2009 as an example.

Your new manager could do without this.

I've always enjoyed this board tbh, was saying to @luvgonzo the other day the only reason I'm on here less than a few years ago is I got pissed off with not knowing who any ****er was after the Klopp name changes <grr> <laugh>
