He said he'd turn down £100m

Are you drunk?
So no-one offered £100m and no-one will either, so he was talking hypothetically and losing £52m in a year was never going to happen...

I see.

They stand to lose about 10mil by keeping him. We're clearly going to offer just above his next years release clause and see what they think.

If they don't take 60mil (50mil + add ons), he'll go for his 50mil(ish) release clause next summer, but not necessarily to us.

Aye, there's the rub.

yeah... but they are in CL and want to do ok in that and go again this year so why sell if you don't need to plus you can offer him a big contract now and end that release clause :)

They don't need to sell... so... well lets move on.

Please guys. I know we're not used to it but this is what happens when you try to sign quality players. Selling clubs will make it difficult.

Aside from telling you to **** clean off, I think they've made it pretty clear they don't want to sell mate.

You're also not great at the tapping up thing it seems, as you proved with VvD.

Amateurs.....

And you cut your cloth to measure :)

LFC are not despite your wildly silly dreams Bayern Munich or real who can just snap their fingers

Southampton have tied van dijk to a long low paid contract relative to where he could be so the guys agent wants shooting. LFC assumed southampton would just allow him to move so sweet talked and now southampton fell.. hey we can shift him in 12 months elsewhere for the same and we don't need to sell to buy what we want to survive. deal over

Same for Keita. his club has no need to sell whatsoever and has its own goals.

Contrast to Roma where salah had to go to finance other moves and roma in the end were actively offering the guy to us via the press in all but name......

theres no ticking clock here for any of our targets... so LFC need to question why the hell did they decide on this strategy and these players and where they can go from now.

As things stand klopp has already CLEARLY signalled he is starting the season AND the cl qualifiers with the squad he has NOW.... that indicates he might be hoping for a late deal but if he runs it that tight and the wheels come off LFC are staring down the barrell of 7th.

Meyer would be a steal at that price.

LOL you couldn't even buy a left leg in england for 17mil

I'd absolutely bid there

Maxi Arnold looked decent option during the under 21 tournament for Germany. Everything went through him in CM. decent strike on him as well. Think only has year left on contract at Wolfsburg think it was? Can't see him not being snapped up by someone better

I mean if you got meyer and that kid for 30mil and sold sakho for the same... I'd be delighted!

Man City release list has more quality than a lot of current PL squads

maybe.... or maybe it shows that it grossly over paid these players and they ran down contracts rather than move.. plus city are that wasteful they didn't even try shift them and pay a portion of wages to have them gone to at least get some value back

Manchester City

Willy Caballero, Jesus Navas, Gael Clichy, Bacary Sagna, Pablo Zabaleta, Callum Bullock, Thomas O'Brien, Kane Plummer,

for the records

3 of them IMO can't run. Clichy, sagna and zabaleta are well in the slide and navas never worked out.

They are suited to one last contract some place... not at a club trying everything to try and compete with city.
