Shaqiri has dug his grave. We bid 18 million he refused to come. When bayern were willing to sell, he chose inter then he struggled at inter they had no problem letting him go to stoke. What's the betting he ends up at QPR?

One reason Lallana cost much is his sell on clause in his contract much like we did for Sterling. saints were doing their best to get as much. That said, we were still mugged

I think as a player there must be an attitude problem with Shaqiri

Definite attitude problem and his agent is a nob as well.

We wanted him but Bayern didn't want to sell (I think that was in Jan). We then could have got him in the summer but Rodgers wanted Lallana instead, and he had more power after finishing 2nd.

You just proved my point. Markovic and shaqiri.

Shaqiri was 22/23 when we bid first and a reserve with little experience. He gained a bit with bayern and we returned with second bid.

Markovic has one could argue just as much experience.

Compare those to and leave lallana out of it. He is inferior enough to abuse him for his own ****e performances.

We bid the prior summer as well and he mugged us off twice. Why go back for a 3rd time. He always favored inter and said so.

I'm sure he did an interview where he said he wanted to join us but Bayern blocked the move. And in the following summer, we were never in for him because Rodgers wanted Lallana. <ok>

    its easy to say <whistle>

bayner refused to even deal the first time.. he had no say.. he refused the second time. that was the 18mil

The move to inter was no doubt his agent's idea on a massive bung and he clearly stated it was his ideal location.

stop fixating jimmy. Lallana is pants enough without trying to make out he's the reason we didn't go for a guy who was never on for joining us anyway.

Exactly. As someone said to me today his career is backwards to the way it should have gone. It should have been..move to Stoke, then inter then bayern..it's the reverse.

He's simply another of our "missed opportunities" that turned out not to be a miss at all. No point comparing to other transfers. Either he's progressed and we missed out or he's declined and we didn't.

Shaqiri just joined Stoke after 6 months of nothing at Inter. He sounds like trouble to me.

  10. Fair play to Saints (and us with Sterling) but a release clause shouldn't alter our stance on his value though. If a player as a release clause they don't have to go for that amount, they just won't go for more than that figure.

    correct.

If for example utd want pedro its 22mil. if pedro wants to go he can try but he signed a new contract so he is stuck.

If barca have a 25% sell on clause in there to cover fine.. thats their business.

Today it's the turn of Thiago Motta, who is reported by The Metro to be in Brendan Rodgers' thinking should Lucas indeed depart the club.

The PSG midfielder needs no introduction, the Italian has played for some of Europe's biggest clubs, including the likes of Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Inter.

A move back to Madrid was reportedly on the cards, but that transfer has now fallen through - leading to rumours of a move to Liverpool.

The 32-year-old, of course, doesn't fit into the Reds' usual model of younger players with resale value, and our Reds reporter, James Pearce, believes Rodgers is quite happy with the midfield options he has, regardless of whether Lucas leaves the club or not.

Mr enrique on the echo live feed... it quotes marca i think

“What I think is that I will not play in a team better than this,” he said. “Liverpool are a match for Manchester United.

“It is true we haven't won the league for many years, but we must not forget that we have won five European Cups.

“I had a very good option to return to Spain, but is complicated because the economy is very different from what exists here.

“The only teams that can deal with what is paid in England are Real Madrid and Barcelona, so I would love to stay here until my legs stop me.

    ..............................

Ehhhh... someone should tell him the news.

"We have alienated Balotelli, Borini and to me. I have a year of contract and I imagine that the club will want to sell, but I still have the idea of stay and fight as I always have. If a good opportunity came with more years of contract and more options to play, I would study."

hmmmm as we were told in may all three were told to find new clubs. I doubt this west brom stuff has real legs to it if this is the case.

    ..................

"Football Italia are linking Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho with a move to Roma."

    Just read the Enroque quotes.

Not good when he starts saying that he has offers from Spain but financially the only clubs in Spain that can compete with wages are Madrid and barca so he's going to stay here as long as he can.

I'm a fan of his but seems like he doesn't really care about playing just wants to pick up his wages for the next year <doh>

Do you blame him? His legs are gone so he is basically picking up his pension or rather telling liverpool to pick up the difference of any wage he should lose should he move.

Alternatively he is looking for a mid level club in England thus why he is holding out for a better wage packet.

    Its really simple here.

the guy is reputedly on 75k per week... yes that is not a typo by me for once.

    75k x 52 = 3.9 million pounts per tax.

Now with repsect if he thinks he will get the same 35k a week offer next year he might only get now why should he move.. he can maybe secure a little loan or whatever or just sit back and relax and then go.

Comolli gave this guy 75k per week.
