'Training away from the first team squad' - that's totally wrong. I remember when Suarez was made to train alone, he was pictured at Melwood with his little girl running around the training ground with him. It's a terrible thing to do to players, it's out in the open and humiliating and not how a club should treat it's players. I can't remember it happening before Rodgers came.

As a good a thread as any as it does involve a transfer of sorts. I saw a newspaper article about Brenda's divorce and noted that his wife and new girlfriend are almost like two peas in a pod

Not sure I agree with you there. The fact that Lambert is still training with the squad implies that the separation is not due to the fact they're going to be sold, but rather that Rodgers doesn't want their influence on the first team squad training. Let's face it, neither Balotelli nor Enrique have reputations as the hardest workers. If that is the case, then it's the players' own fault. If Rodgers thinks he can train the first team better without them being there, then so be it.

I don't think it's to do with them waiting to be sold, but I couldn't say with any certainty what the reason actually is either. Freezing players out sends a terrible message to the rest of the team it's like putting a child on the naughty step - it's humiliating and wrong.

Looking at it's more deep psychology - Balotelli grew up in horrendous circumstances, his parents gave him and his brother away and in his new home, while loved very much by his new [white] parents he suffered terrible racism and so has lived his entire life as an outsider and not being wanted or fitting in. Knowing all of that and taking into account that he's also just lost his adoptive father who he was very close to, putting him outside of the group is tantamount to cruelty. Where's the motivational doctor/coach they have at Anfield and why is he allowing Rodgers and/or the club to do this?

Whatever you think of him as a player - and he does divide opinion - he doesn't deserve this treatment, it's actually morally wrong as far as I'm concerned and while I've never held BR in high esteem, he's dropped even lower now.

Pass me the tissues, as I need to wipe away a tear for the poor multi millionaire footballer who's been forced to train on his own, whilst collecting his £100k a week salary for contributing jack **** to his employer.

He's patently been acting like a complete cock behind the scenes hence the sanction. He's got form for being a distraction in training and Rodgers has obviously decided that he doesn't want the bad apple in the basket.

    Cruelty?...****ing lol

Disagree. Assuming they're there for a reason, it's telling the players that either they come with the right attitude, or they're not a part of the squad. Simple as. they're professionals being paid to do a job. If they're not putting the effort in, then steps should be taken.

As for Balotelli, that's a whole lot of explanation, but none of that is an excuse. He's a grwon man now. We don't know the reasons, but assuming that he has been misbehaving, should we excuse his behaviour for those reasons? Pandering to him is unlikely to help him develop. Hopefully however there are people talking to him and he's been offered whatever support he needs following the death of his adoptive father.

Does he deserve this treatment? We don't know what the reasons for it are. But if the effort has been lacking, then why not?

You're only presuming it's being done because of lack of effort, how can you be sure that's the reason?

I'm not excusing Balotelli based on his childhood - I'm not excusing him at all, if he's lazy, he's lazy and you're right as a grown man he should be dealt with as a grown man. Isolation, however, isn't grown up behaviour, and as sports works heavily on psychology - you have to know how to use it to maximise positive outcomes. You cater psychologically to individuals based on what motivates them, that's how sport psychology works. So you can't play down it's opposite non-motivational effects and using methods that include isolation on a man who's life has been hampered with isolation is just plain cruel. I'm left wondering who Rodgers has got shut in a cupboard as part of their punishment!

I said I don't know what the reason is. But both he and Enrique have reputations for laziness, so it's a fair guess, but we simply don't know.

And it's not like he 's being kept alone in a dark cell; he's just training away from the first team squad with the other two. If he wants back in, he'll have to show that he's ready to. If he 's being disruptive to the trainign, why should he train with them if he hasn't learned his lesson after all this time?

Hmmm, I do understand where you are coming from but Rodgers has huge pressure on him, if we don't swim straight away this season he's gone - I imagine he doesn't need any bullshit distractions and he sees these three as just that.

I think you are getting a bit too sentimental over it and imagine them as a dog left in a dark room all day whilst you go to work! It's not quite so dramatic I don't think.

They were all told as men to get it sorted in may. It's now just about August and they want to sit about and get a free ride.... in the end.... some people need to be told more forcefully.

Enrique it might be influence based. I noticed he seemed quite close off the pitch with a lot of the young players, ...playing games, out for meals a lot. Maybe BR doesn't want his young players looking up to a guy more interested in off the pitch than on?

We dont know obviously JB but didn't Macca make some comment about Balotelli being "poison" behind the scenes. He doesn't seem like the type you could take to the side and told to be a pro with the other players...his personality suggests he'd just keep going oblivious..

To be fair, that one could explain why Balotelli's training alone now! Even Bentekkers' face appears to be looking at Rodgers and saying "Erm, Boss....Can we put this guy somewhere else?"
