Sterling may not be worth close to £49million but he was your main attacking threat last season. Rodgers has invested much of that money in a decent striker in Benteke but it does mean you are starting from scratch as an attacking unit. You'll recall that he sold Carroll as he wanted mobile forwards who could interlink play quickly not big lumps who can hold the ball up and head in crosses. That's what's just bought so it's a complete about face on attacking strategy! I think you could have got another season out of Gerrard but that would have required Rodgers to be a bit more tactically astute to help protect Gerrard's ageing legs and we all know he's not capable of thinking beyond the obvious. Milner is a good player but he's not going to elevate that midfield another level. With both Sterling and Gerrard, Rodgers has replaced quality with dependable mediocrity. He's done that before hasn't he! Firminho is a complete unknown although I appreciate he is currently considered a worldy based on Youtube clips and desperation. There's no doubt that as things stand, you're worse off than you were this time last year when you were equally positive about what cracking transfer business Rodgers had done.
Good post 10/10 for effort. 2/10 for wummery Would respond in more detail but I'm off out. I will pull it to pieces later though - I might even let my 6 year loose on it
How good did your mob feel last summer when 60 odd million Di Maria was bought and 300k a week falcao- turned out Fellini and Carrick had to scrape you to fourth which utd seem oh so proud of nowadays! it is absolutely about what's best for the team and not what will keep the plastics still watching the tele
The WUMs are having a 'mare Maybe if their own board had anything but threads about De Gea leaving them they wouldn't be so out of form
I couldn't agree more. Having initially lauded the signings of Markovic, Can, Lallana, Lambert etc last summer, every Liverpool fan on here, except for Astro, then spent the majority of the season moaning about how the signings had only fleshed out the squad but hadn't actually improved the team. So we are in agreement.
Lambert is 1/8 to join boro.... Those are some bloody short odds! surprising as he could do a job in prem for someone like west brom or one of. Rely promoted teams
Martinez furious his transfer strategy has been leaked: http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/jul/18/everton-roberto-martinez-chelsea-john-stones Official Everton transfer targets: Stones not to leave Coleman not to leave Deulofeu not to leave again
Nor did anyone laud the transfers of Lallana, Lambert or even Can really (Can was Lauded afterwards). In fact everyone was pretty much underwhelmed by all our transfer activity last summer
Really? Proof? Was it Astro? We may have had high hope about Moreno and been pleased with a £12m deal, which still isn't a bad price considering the current market. But to say "two", I don't think many of us would have said that cause Manquillo was an almost unknown quantity and I don't think the majority lauded him as a signing.
Honestly can't remember who it was (but quite a few agreed), I only remember it because I had never heard of any of them and was curious.
Yes of course. Although a quick search... The Markovic Appreciation Society The Lallana Appreciation Society The Lambert Appreciation Society There's much more that's easily found just by doing a quick search on their names in thread titles! I may have a look at Can, Moreno and Mantequilla later!
