As there was a buy clause in the loan deal I highly doubt there is a recall clause for lfc in which case it will be up to Villa to terminate it if they want to.
They don't want him mate so if we simply say we want him back and will take the wages back they will allow it. That's what I mean financially taking a hit but imo he's a Liverpool player being treated like **** by another club we should bring him back and not tolerate that.

Yeah I’m with this, and tell Villa not to bother approaching us again for a long while

Better to have him sat on our bench as an option than him to be sat in the stands at Villa Park.
Maybe he doesn't want to sit on our bench though? After all, that's presumably why he moved in the first place.
It backfired this time, but if he has ambition to play regular first team football ( and he should have), then he'll want to move again I imagine.
It would be a shame for him to be put out to pasture in the MLS though.

I don't think he wanted to go from what I read but was told quite bluntly that he wasn't in the first team plans. Fair enough coaches make these decisions. I think Slot has made a bad decision same with Quansah and we'd be a lot stronger with them both in the squad. However, the point is that while he's out player we shouldn't be allowing a club to treat him this way.

I'm not disagreeing with the last bit, merely replying to the suggestion that it would be better for him to sit on our bench.
As for him being "told quite bluntly that he wasn't in the first team plans" I have no idea whether or not that's true, but if it was then it probably still is. And if it is true, then he'd be unlikely to be on the bench anyway.
He shouldn't be languishing in the doldrums anywhere.

I feel very sorry for him, loves the club and imo is capable of playing for us. Hope it works out for him.

contracts are legal agreements though so it depends on the agreed terms if that is possible . Though it seems fairly clear Slot doesn't want him though god knows what happens if we get a few injuries.

The contact is all in our favour as we don't pay his wages, Villa have acted in this way and are treating him terribly if we wanted to terminate the agreement it's in their favour. We should do it because it's the right thing to do for our player.

Elliott. This is about money.

I suspect that if Villa said here’s your loan fee and also his wages until the end of the season, he’d be back with us.
We should just accept that this isn't going to be in our favour but that it is the right thing to do.

Didn't Klopp bring someone back from a German club because they weren't playing our loan player? Rings a bell.

it may not be possible contract wise.
Villa won't play him as they don't want to trigger the obligation to buy but i have never understood why they loaned him as i couldn't see where he would play for them considering the options they already had .

Probably not, but I doubt he wants to sit watching Villa from the stand either.

He can't play for anyone else in Europe this season, so he either...
1) stays at Villa
2) comes back to us and plays a bit part (can't be less than at Villa),or
3) goes to a sub standard league
