oh btw i was derided for saying we needed RB cover and yet here we are going in to the 2nd game with zero fit RB's
You can't keep buying players 'just in case' though. 2 players for each position should be sufficient with a few utility players who can play several positions seems to be Slot's favoured approach.

as i said at that time both backups are injured more often than not so it was always a big risk which has blown up earlier than even i expected .
Typical of our luck though as Frimpong had a really good fitness record at BL

Last time Frimpong missed a club game through injury was 21/22 when missed 11 games in total split between club and country.

Only other injury since then is 2 games for Netherlands in 23/24

So Woukdnt say he was a huge risk

personally i would say it is a risk to have just 1 player with 2 known injury prone players covering that position plus CB - though Leoni has since been added

Maybe but if Frimpong doesn’t miss any games then it’s a wasted space to have 3 senior right backs, especially as we have no more foreign slots available so who is the English RB that’s we’re going to sign to be 3rd choice?

Our situation in the prem is simpler thst europe.

Europe is what 6 games before the window opens? It was last year with the last 2 group games after christmas.

17 foreign players

1 alisson
2 marmadashvilli
3 robertson
4 kerkez
5 vvd
6 konate
7 gravenberch
8 endo
9 macallister
10 szoboszlai
11 wirtz
12 gakpo
13 Ekitike
14 salah
15 cheisa
16
17

Tsimiaks is going. Let's just park that one.

Now for Europe.
16 = leoni
17 = Ngumoha

Our hg contingent

1 gomez
2 Jones
3 bradley
4

5 woodman
6 frimong
7
8

Elliott is going apparently so he would be on the club trained list.

B listers (europe)
Danns, nyoni, nallo.

So for me it fairly obvious thst our slots are held for isak and guehi amd thst will mean we are well covered for europe but Ngumoha will only be available for cup games.

We wont be buying to cover a minor muscle strain for frimpong but Bradley is going to be one to watch. The injuries are constantly coming.

Howe has been told.

He's making it fully clear in his press conference thst everyone can ignore everything said previously. It was all a joke or something.

the players want isak back he wants isak back, theres no problem between them personally. Etc etc etc.

Basically falling over himself to back track on all his comments about the player for weeks and weeks.

Problem is, that’s not what Isak wants and a lot of the fans have turned against Isak

Yes.

And who turned them?

Isak?
The press?
Or eddie howe who is trying to make himself look a saint here?

Every press conference tjr guy got asked aboit this all through preseason and he was more than happy make comment.

Howe is the one who pointed out the plauer was stsying home

Howe the one who called it acting poorly.

Howe the one who stated the player had to stay away

Howe the one who banned him from team events (bbq)

Howe the one who has had to answer for tje club and the first one to deny any promises were made to the player.

Now we have howe admitting meeting happened and discussions with him did take place.

The player has been pushed at every stage culminating in his pfa night social media post.

The plauer has also been pushing at every stage via his agent so nothing new came out from his side in thst post that we didn't hear third hand.

Someone at Newcastle let it be known the thigh injury didn't show up on a scan. That basically set the whole thing ablaze with their fans imo.

Someone let it be known we were interested and up to a 120mil price. That came out and was widely reported as was newcaslte saying not for sale.

Who did that? Newcaslte? Agent? Lfc? We dont know.

Players have been fairly consistent in commentary that they are fine without him, none have really had any option but to bat away such questions.

The fans have then a fake injury, a plauer going to Spain to train and a bid refused to all add up and turn on the player.

Howe could have met the player and tried to defuse this but chose the nuclear out of the squad and out of the family events and thst also pushed hard at the player.

He is now talking like its open arms time and all is forgiven of only you see thr light.

I am fully sure the light will be seen on 2nd September but the player will stink the palce out up to January and pick up another mysterious injury ro be out for thr month of January too.

BTW howe said today he didn't know how this reintegration would happen.

Hardly good is it?

Surely you'd spend at least 5mins of your busy day to try and sort it but it seems that the saga will come to an end quickly "somehowe"

The end of the saga is in sight. It's called the transfer window shutting.

Exactly.

It's 10 days or so. Or for him 2 or 3 more press conferences.

The most truthful thing he said was that it is lose lose for both parties.

He admitted they sat down before the end of season.

They should have sat down again first week of preseason if he is thet vital to them.

They shouldn't have flown without having a discussion again if the player was pulling a stunt like that.

But most of all they shouldn't have pushed the player so far that he acted that way and continued to push him when they came back if he was so vital that they couldn't lose him.

Its looking like they expect isak to come crawling after 2nd September. They are at least confident enough to start talking thst way.

For us I hope we are actually staying away (I presume their side leaked our bid and our stement thst they can call us if they change their mind)

We need a forward. We have 4 for 6 spots. One of whom is going for 4 to 6 weeks in jan ans one of whom cannot run.

This is what I'd like to see us deal with. 1 fast, flexible forward thst doesn't require us to strip from areas of strength.

(Please dont be telling member wirtz or szoboszlai can play on tje wings guys. They need to play 10 and 8 or we will flog the cms to death and have another crisis there)

As things stand we should be loaning danns out and hoping he has a big development year.

We should be letting Ngumoha develop and sign a pro contract formally. Then look to cups.

We need 2 players per position to compete with arsenal and city. (Or call that 5 to 6 places to front and 5 for 6 places in midfield at worst too)

Wirtz & Szobcan play on the wings but not sure a member can .
